My parents are looking at a c26 and thinking of moving from a keelboat to a trailerable boat. I'm posting this general question on their behalf ...

Just an update on the hum with my spectra line ... it hums when I approach 8mph on the GPS. I think that's something like 5-6 knots.

Jeeezly loud too!

I'm not sure if this applies, but check to see if there's a small line stiched into the foot of your genoa. Some sails have this for "bellying" the sail in light winds. It could be that it has been pulled tightand stuck there.

It's also VERY possible that the sail is somehow the wrong ...

Smiley came with not head, but I got a porat potty and strapped it in dead center under the aft part of the bow bunk. This leaves a space on the port side that is somewhat useless right now ... Is this the space you're talking about ?

Whatever the rum, my suggestion is to make yourself a list of priorities (subject to change of COURSE!). The goal should be getting the boat in the water and haviong some fun, so I'd say focus on rudder and mast.

As I understand it, the hull number you need is "gouged" into the hull on the transom, not on a metal plate. On my c22 it's near the metal plate and the number is somewhat similar.

Hi -

When my c22 was on its cradle, I was able to shake the keel back and forth by hand. I *think* this is normal play. I'd say if you don't have water coming in around the keel bolt then you're probably okay.

I'm assuming that the c26 and c22 have similar configurations ?

I'm curious about attaching to the keel ... did you have to go underwater for that?

I changed my "cable" and winch before launching, hopefully both will survive the summer.

Hey Gus;

No, not a fixed keel. In my avatar pic the swing keel is about 3/4 of the way down and resting on the cradle. The trailer in the picture is the "yard trailer" at the RStLYC where I bought the boat.

I just bought a C22 myself and can't yet comment on its sailability. Look out for the keel bolt, accessible on the port side in a bin under the settee seat. Also pay close attention to the keel winch (I had to change mine) and cable (ditto).
