Help needed - Bimini top

Hello everyone, I have seen this thread posted from time to time without seeing the information I am looking for - so I thought I'd try a new thread. My father (82 years old, God Bless Him) and I have a 26 foot Chrysler, vintage 1979. There has never been any Bimini installed on this boat, but the t...

Thanks - another question

Fran, Thanks so much for your insights. You confirmed what I was wondering - there seems to be no "stop" for the pin in the boom end. I could see it wandering in there - that noise would drive me crazy for sure! (But I'd always know where to find the pin should I ever need it again)...

How timely this is!

Hmm, it seems there is a rash of halyards at the head of the mast. Over the winter, our fitting came loose and the halyard is now at the top of the mast. (or was helped come loose by someone - we'll know when we either find or don't find the fitting at the top of the mast stuck in the pulley.) We ar...

Boat fell off props - what damage to look for?

Hello everyone, Happy New Year! I'm sad to report that the Kiwi II fell off her props at the marina during a windstorm just before Christmas. Only found out when we went down to celebrate New Years on deck, and found her lying a considerable distance from where she was propped, and listing badly. Tu...

Thanks! I found this site a while ago and found it to be HUGELY helpful in figuring out how the swing keel mechanism works. This allowed me to make the emergency repairs that got us underway earlier this summer when the cable snapped. I am off to the boat for an overnight stay, so thanks for all the...

Thanks - more questions

Hello Mike, Thanks for replying to my post. Since I have not disassembled the keel tunnel yet, I don't have a good mental picture of the bracket assembly. Hopefully the info you provided will make more sense when I dissasemble this week. One quick question - how difficult is it to access / remove th...

Need help with Chrysler swing keel fix

Hello everyone, I am thrilled to have found this forum. I am new to sailing, and have been learning to sail this summer on a C26 swing keel. Early this summer, my father cranked a little too hard on the keel winch and the cable snapped, slamming the keel down. We repaired the cable while in the wate...
