LS-16
Several years ago I was in your shoes...a derelict LS-16 in the driveway and no parts in sight. Most of my rehab was done on blind faith. My main concerns were the bilge board gaskets and the rotten floor. Replacing the floor was my biggest challenge but it came out great! Later model 16's went to a...

LS-13
Had a brand new LS-13 years ago. It was one of the very last all green models made. The later models had white hulls and colored decks. I now have a 1960 LS-16 (#249) and sail at White Rock. Most of the structural restoration is done but she still needs cosmetic work. Believe it or not, I am the thi...

LS-16
Judging from your photo it looks as if someone modified the standard rigging to turnbuckles. The turnbuckles were not standard for either the 13 or 16. My LS-16 rigging uses the same 3/16" seven-hole adjusters for both the shrouds and the forestay. Let me know if you need photos.

Ditto on the Lizards site
You might want to start loking for a "donor" boat. As a LS-16 owner, I can assure you that parts are not to be found. In a way, that is a good thing as you must depend on your own creative juices to find a solution for that missing part(s).

Tony, I went through what you are about to do about four years ago. and will be more than happy to share my gained knowledge and a few photos too. It was truly a "do-it-yourself" project as there are no parts available and very few poeple with LS-16 construction experience are still around...

No Spinnaker on 13
The LS-13 did not have a spinnaker option, however, there was one available for the LS-16. Believe it or not, in addition to the original manual, I also have a Chrysler spinnaker installation guide that is dated 1969. The factory model was big red, white, and blue horizontal stripes. The 16 spinnake...

LS-16 Mast
Per the LS-16 manual, the mast height is 24'1'. The mast on my 16 was destroyed in a monster wind storm. The previous owner could not locate a 16 mast but, through research, found that the Buccaneer mast is identical. I guess that Chrysler was very innovative in their time at using a "one size ...

Flotation
Your best bet is to forget the bottles and "Great Stuff" type products. There are numerous suppliers online who sell the two part closed cell foam. Just do a little shopping for the best price. This is the same material that was used in 1960 under the plywood floor of my LS-16 and is still...

LS-13?
Are you sure that you do not have a LS-16 instead of a 13? Their designs are almost identical except for the length. Aside from measuring, one big give away would be that the 16 has spreaders on the mast. I stand to be corrected but to the best of my recollecion, all of the 13's had the slat board f...

Ahoy From LS-16 #249 in Dallas Texas!
Glad to see a post from another LS-16 owner. Mine is a 1960 model (#249) and I am only the third owner. The 2nd owner had her for thirty four years. She is pretty well through her restoration except for cosmetics. My two biggest challenges were replacing the wooden floor and fabricating gaskets for ...

I have a 1960 model, sail number 249. in Dallas. Believe it or not, she was purchased from the second owner who had owned her for 34 years. Maury...just curious
Maury,
I am curious as to whether you are parting out several LS-13's or if you have found a source for various old Lone Star parts. I have a 1960 LS-16 (#249) and usually have to "McGuiver" my parts.

Bilge Boards
Many years ago, I had a LS-13. I now have a 1960 LS-16 that is being restored. To the best of my memory, the bilge board systems are very similar. If so, you should have two screws on either side of the handle base to adjust tension. You might try tightening them and see what happens. I would guess ...

Adding A Tabernacle
My 25' mast on my Lone Star 16 is quite a pain to raise. The deck opening is fairly narrow (a small slot with rounded ends) and will not allow for you to put the mast in at a decent angle. The mast has to be dropped into the slot almost vertical. I don't want to do any drastic modification to the or...

You have my total empathy as I had the identical problem with my LS-16. After an extensive search online and everywhere else I could think of, I decided to make my own parts.
