Met my wife (to be) 27 years ago when I got her on my Hobie 16.
Followed by: Spirit 23, Cat 27, Sunfish, Cat 27, Cat 30, Cat 27, TMI 30.
Five bareboat trips to BVI. Sailing has been very good to us. Every boat (except the Hobie) were more than 20 years old when we got them. She never once ...

I thought my wife said, "your not going up there?"
I said, "sure I am".
She said, NO, YOUR NOT GOING UP THERE!"
Sometimes it's hard to tell the difference between a question and a statement.
Fortunately for me I have my wife around to help clear things up.

Don't tell her, but I AM going up there ...

Pop, down, but still up.

Popped the head of the genoa on a Saturday. The sail had a web strap that attached the halyard. Strap broke, sail came down, halyard stayed up.
I was going to wait until winter to take the sail in to replace/repair the U/V protection (furling), but now it is in the sail shop. Having a "ring" sewn in ...

Doing a Triathlon at Panama City Beach in November.
Very concerned about the swim.
I would hate to have a tourist related business in the Gulf. Small business is hard enough without "manmade disasters".

You would be surprised. BVI is all line of site sailing. I am a Texas lake sailer and have been there 5 times. The first time in 1999. I was very concerned. I think we had a 40 footer. It looked like the Queen Mary to me. After a short orientation they just turned the boat over to me (fools). I ...

411 . . . 411 I laugh at 411's.
It's 50! :D Beneteau.
Biggest boat that I have ever been on. The winches were the size of mop buckets - no joke.
Intimidate me?
Heck yes, but only for the first 8 1/2 days of our 9 day trip.

1. I love it. I am big fan of a good traveler, maybe from my Hobie 16 days.
2. The lines come from each end of the traveler so the position of the boom has no affect. Side note: I read in a sail mag. the suggestion of making the lines like a "bridle". No bitter end. The loop "bridle" goes from one ...

Easiest general suggestion - move the traveler to windward, next ease the sheets.

I had a Spirit 23 with a pop that we used often. It may depend on the temp that you sail in. In central Texas it gets hot. Anchor - pop the top. Over night - pop the top.

My favorite name was "Incommunicado". A little long but summed up how I felt on my boat. I even had a "Incommunicado II"
My latest boat "Sundowner" came with the name. Good enough to keep.

Wasp! Been there. First trip on the boat - wasp nest in each end of the boom and one mother load just inside the cabin. I found the one in the boom by hitting the boom accidently and there came a flood of wasp. Not enough room for me and a few dozen wasp in the cockpit. This does not count the dirt ...
