Nothing wrong with multihulls in my opinion. My father has a Hobie 33, a very fast boat for a monohull, and we have seen over 20 knots on it. She planes easily at 8 kts and cruises at 12-13 in about 20kts of wind with a chute up. However, I remember a race one year from Clearwater to Key West, we we...

Nice job, I'm sure they will last a long time since they are Delrin! Just curious, why did you use NPT for the lower fitting instead of a straight thread? Do you foresee needing to shim the coupling or cut the thread end shorter, otherwise I would think it would be difficult to get the torque correct.

I can't see that PVC would fail even below freezing unless there was pressure on it. It will never be near it's working pressure as a through hull fitting, the pressure on it is probably immeasurably small.

And another source for the fittings that are considerably less expensive. Not as robust as the Hayward ones but would work fine after the PVC pipe is glued inside.

Our C22 has the same problem as I have read about on many others, the top fitting is slowly falling apart. I have been searching also for that correct bulkhead fitting. Still haven't found anything that is perfect and won't require opening up the holes in the hull and deck to accommodate the new fit...

We have a CDI FF2 furler on the C-22. It was on the boat when we purchased it. Although we have had no problems with it, I think I would prefer the Hood. The CDI doesn't allow as easy of headsail changes, as the halyard is built in to the system and requires a tag line attached to drop the sail. The...

This Friday, I will be doing the opposite and dropping my mast in the slip so I can get my spinnaker halyard and topping lift blocks installed, re-wiring the lights and installing a new windex. Hoping to get all that done in a few hours, then going out to fly a kite! Try http://www.secosouth.com/ in...

We bought ours after a "sea" trial. She doesn't leak from below the waterline, had more recent standing rigging and sails, and a roller furler. Needed some TLC, but the price was reasonable at $1400. We have replaced most of the running rigging and added some items like the vang. Most of t...

It's not the ideal location, but since we mostly just daysail, we put them up on the V-berth. My fathers boat has lexan weather boards and a padded bag sewn to hold them. Of course the padded bag is pretty useless against personal injuries unless properly stowed (ask my big toe how it knows this). I...

Hey Blu, don't pick on the "poor" northerners. Just because it is prime sailing season right now, us Crackers have to deal with the hot humid summers, swarms of skeeters and the afternoon doldrums. BUT, as a native, I have NEVER EVER owned nor used a snow shovel or windshield scraper. HEHEHE

It would be used as one of the blocks for either the mainsheet or boomvang to make a 4 to 1 purchase. You need another one sized like it without the becket and camcleat to make the whole thing.

While not quite a boat in a basement, it reminds me of a story has. When he was younger, he built a 13 foot speedboat in his parents basement. The pieces to build it went into the basement down the staircase... but when it was time to launch it, it was too big to come back out (obviously you can see...

The lower one right above the hull is the keel pin and the one above it is a spring and plunger to help reduce keel movement.

Is the boat in the water or on a trailer now? If it is in the water and there is no water in the cabin, then the pin and brackets are intact... at least for now. If it's on a trailer then you might try to put it in the water, if possible for a few hours, even if just tied to a dock at the ramp. The ...

Sorry to hear about the troubles. You can probably find a used sail that can be cut to fit the C-22, or buy a new one, they aren't terribly expensive. Check this site out and I'm sure many more sail lofts would be happy to build you a new sail for similar money. http://maurisails.com/Sails-For-Chrys...

Sounds like the two lines for the rudder have gotten tangled up inside the rudder "cheeks". Sounds like you might need to unbolt the rudder from between the cheeks to untangle, and if the lines look at all bad replace them. I don't know your location, so not sure how cold the water is for ...
