I'm about to begin installation of a pedestal steering system on my c-22, has anyone got any suggestions or experience?

I pulled my c-22 home today from her winter storage , about a 180 mile trip. when I got home and climbed aboard I found that the starboard seat/hatch had blown out along the way.
