I don't have that hook anymore, but it was probably 1/8" thick aluminum plate. Since that's gone, just rebuild
your mast step and install a new hinge plate. You'll need to make some changes to the mast of course but well worth it in long run

Re: C22 Keel Bracket/Pin Kits for Sale
Welcome aboard! The Starwind to my knowledge is a C22 clone with some minor changes as you noted. I haven't seen any brackets for sale postings in a long time. Most of us have had to build our own, or hire a machine shop. I made my own from stainless steel and did my own welding, etc. There are lots...

Re: New Sailor with C22...Need Your Help
Brian, Congrats on the new Sandpiper! The mast on C22's is very robust for its category of daysailor. I can imagine generated a few curse words when it snapped off. Were you using the factory documented procedure with gin pole and bridles to mast and demast? The 'hook' arrangement is not ideal and I...

Never heard or seen that happen. Check over at https://ruddercraft.com/
Yes----that is the original factory head
Doesn't look too difficult to machine one from scratch if you have the tools or know someone handy like that. Welding is also an option

I've purchased very good double-braided poly from a seller on eBay (rags4jc) at super reasonable prices. You can get new and used hardware from him too and he'll cut the poly length to your specification

Re: Any advice on raising the mast for the first time?
Check this out from Captain Scott's Sailing website Captain Scott Sailing - Stepping the Mast Single handedly I understand the hesitation. It can be nerve wracking the first time through. The Chrysler mast is very sturdy compared to other sailboats of that era. For instance, find and watch Catalina ...

Re: Well, the keel is off!
Rich, I assumed when you said the keel was off you already had most of it disassembled. How did you get the pin out ---cut it from below with reciprocating saw? Whatever the method, with the keel out go ahead and remove the bracket from each side. Attached with 6 1/4" bolts each side. Once remo...

Re: Well, the keel is off!
Hello to all, I got the keel off this week. I’ll try to post some pictures soon if anybody has any questions about my process or would like to see them. The bolts come out with no problem, but the galvanized piping is STUCK. 40 years of rust! Any tricks for getting these off? Tried to post a pictur...

Re: New to me C22 Concern with Rudder Assembly
All depends on whether the hull was damaged in the process. That SS shaft is very sturdy and the amount of force needed to bend it could have damaged the fiberglass. I would ask for some closeup pix of the hull from both sides.

Re: Keel pin bracket design
Mike, The first image is my keel bracket. To answer about the 'shoulder' comment, yes , you're exactly right. I did that so as to limit the lateral movement. Otherwise, you have to put spacers in there to stop the travel. I've seen where people use large plastic washers, etc. for that. One big conce...

Greg, To keep our server storage cost low, we enforce a 512KB limit for image attachments. Most cameras these days have a default setting of 1MB, so if trying to take something directly off your camera and post here, you're likely going to hit that limit. Re: Suddenly, My Pop-up Top Won't Sit Properly in It's Track, And the Companionway Boards Are Too Tight to Fit
Lydia, Do you have any pictures you can attach? I have a C22 with a pop-up. You said everything fit nicely, presumably when the boat was on the trailer, and the keel supported on the trailer. Is the boat still in the water with this condition? If so, now that you're in the water, the keel is only su...

Use Bracket Style D (0 deg.rake) ...you can mount slightly aft to make your own rake...mine are positioned to give about 10 degrees rake

Purchased from Mauri Pro Sailing.
Lewmar Standard Opening Portlight - Size 4R and 4L

Fantastic construction. They are pricey, but you'll never need another portlite. They come in anodized aluminum, but I painted mine black to match my color scheme

Re: OEM Standing Rigging ?
Joshua, I haven't heard of anyone on this board having lost their rigging unexpectedly. On replacing, I'm the kind of person that enjoys DIY, so I would never consider paying $$$ to do what I can do, except of course I do pay for swaging. Measuring can be tricky in some cases. I just finished with a...
