Chrysler sailfest

Would be great to have the opportunity to meet up with other Chrysler boaters next year either in the San Juans or the Gulf Islands. I plan on being there in June 2015. How about it? Seems that there are more than a few in the area.

Garbage

Stopped at the Winco in Bellingham to provision. Was in the parking lot decanting all of the boxed items into my plastic storage containers when a store employee informed me I could not place the packaging in their trash bin. I was around back using a recycling container at the time. it worked out O...

a happy first mate

I do not have a first mate, I have an admiral. A willing partner in cruising, day sailing and she has always let me know what she needs to be comfortable. Read all of the books on cruising couples and how to make it more comfortable. None of them were as important as starting slow and working into c...

san Juans

Depends upon weather want to anchor, grab a buoy or dock at a marina.in my experience a buoy after noon is chancy, anchoring is always my goal although might have to row a bit to get to shore. I avoid marinas like the plague. Inside has less weather but more boats (although a southerly can roar up w...

Winter Cove

The hulk is not there anymore. No sign this year. In 2008 the spars were floating in the cove. You missed the yearly lamb fest and 125 boats anchored in the cove for Canada Day. Went through boat pass this year and down to Tumbo island for the night before heading to Roche. Another favorite place fo...

Maybe next year

Maybe see you next year along with other Chrysler boats. 5 weeks + in early June and July out of Bellingham north to False Bay crossing the Straits of Georgia north of Nanaimo. Canada day in Winter Harbour followed by the fourth in Roche. Go early as the kids are still in school, winds are excellent...

Anyone hinged the mast on a 26. I just don't fully trust the hook system on Simplicity. If so, what will I find structurally as I get into the retrofit?.

I have watched many a Cat 25 and a Dana 24 with a front wheel and so far have not seen any problems. Am aware of the potential problem and will be watching closely.
Without the wheel I must put way too much of my truck in the water.

Thanks for the info. Making a tongue wheel to allow trailer launch using a strap and needed to size the wheel for expected tongue weight.

Since I posted talked to a full keeled Catalina 25 skipper. He uses a single nonturning wheel on a fork attached to a pivoting anchor on the tongue. Uses a 8000# tow strap to lower and retrieve the trailer/boat. Need to stop on the ramp, block the trailer tires and attach the strap and tire. Pull fo...

Chrysler 26 launching

Posted this in the trailering area and got no replies. When I launched my swing keel 26 the other day the truck was farther in the water than I wishes as there is no extended tongue on the trailer. Has anyone ever used the system of detaching from the towing vehicle and placing a large wheel on the ...

Launching

Just launched my new 26 Simplicity. As there in no extended tongue on the trailer (and no option to install one), has anyone installed a wheel on the tongue to allow further immersion of the trailer. Similar to that on a full keeled boat. I felt bad to immerse the tailpipe of the rental truck. Thank...
