As a side note in case anyone cared... 92 boats started the race. Based on handicap ratings I was the fourth slowest boat so I was the fourth boat to start the race. I raced my way into 1st place within 45 minutes or so and then my genoa tore apart at about 1 1/2 hrs into the race. The race is from ...

What provides the most power...
A couple weeks ago I was participating in the 61st Annual Mug Race (the longest river regatta in the world at 44 miles long) which had moderately strong winds and very rainy conditions. My 30+ year old genoa was not feeling it and she ripped apart about 6' down from the head, and tore all the way fr...

Genoa for Chrysler 22...
My 155% Genoa tore apart during a long, wet, very windy race and I am stuck using the storm jib for now. I would really like to get another genoa but I do not have the funds to purchase new one. I was hoping someone here would have a good condition used sail they could sell for a good price. I do NO...

Your motor mount looks much different than mine. I will get a picture of it next time I am at the boat. I am thinking maybe I just need to remove the pins that the handle catches on and figure out a way to use a rope and cleat to keep it propped up, but then again that might be too weak and a PITA a...

Advice on motor mount reconditioning?
I have the stock motor mount on my C22 and it is a serious PITA to get it to lower. It is a fine dance between pulling up on the rope, pushing back and down on the motor, and hoping you did it in the right order ;) Has anyone tried to retrofit a handle onto the mount to make lowering easier? Raising...

Stanchion Eye Removal Advice...
I have a bent stanchion that needs to be replaced and I do not see any mechanical fastener holding the eye onto the post... http://i1051.photobucket.com/albums/s429/Zacpenn82/20140129_105726_zps5c4eccc8.jpg I haven't tried anything yet because I didn't want to break the eye. Also any ideas on how to...

Pretty nice setup there Bill. Well my dad and I got the repair done yesterday, and it was an absolutely beautiful day. Partly cloudy 70 degrees and 10 mph winds. A couple days ago I had dropped the rudder down the through hull fittings and out of the boat, so I could repair the up/down haul lines an...

Thanks Scott, I have already removed the rudder because the stupid downhaul knot came untied, so I removed both the up and down haul lines, and reset a knot using two vice grip pliers and pulling it really hard. Hopefully that is the end of that. The black hose connecting the two rudder fittings has...

Tightening upper rudder through hull fitting?
I have tightened everything up with my rudder, but somehow over the years the upper through hull fitting has come loose so the rudder post can move around. I slipped under the deck today and tried to access the nut, but I can't reach my hands up there because of the black tubing attached to it. I ca...

Sorry I don't have better pics of the seat setup but I made this little beauty to fit over the companionway hatch sliders and as long as you are sitting on the windward side of the boat it is really comfortable. If you are on the leeward side you have way too much lean and it is too much stress on t...

Thanks Bill, I saw that video when you first posted it, but I was hoping to find an access point without having to cut those large holes. However if I can't gain access then I will be forced to do that. I don't know how I would go about mounting a full stern rail without gaining access from below. :?:

Removing wooden stern divider walls
I need to remove my back stays and repair/re-bed them. I also want to add a stern rail so I need to gain access to the back portion of the boat, but those wooden divider walls, just aft of the seat lockers, are blocking my access. Can I cut out the caulking and remove the wood to gain access to thos...

Well I ended up with a pretty nice fix so we could get the boat down to the ramp and still use the tiller. I am a plastic fabricator so i have HDPE welding rod on a spool. I cut off a 10' section and fed it down the rudder post and waited for it to float up along side of the boat. If you don't remem...

Replacing rudder downhaul line with boat in the water?
Went sailing over the weekend and ran over a line which raised the keel, and then released it, sending is smashing down and breaking the clamp that holds the cable to the winch, and then snapped the rudder downhaul line so my rudder is now floating and interferes with the outboard. I was lucky enoug...
