if Door County, the best/only safe & free "offshore anchoring" would be on the north side of Peninsula State Park at Nicollet Bay and nearby Horseshoe Island (when NW wind). I captain power boat cruises by these spots and they are the only/most popular. Occasionally boats anchor in Ba...

Chrysler Enthusiasts in Wisconsin

One of the ways to encourage sailing is to create events or enthusiasts to get together. It seems there are more Chrysler sailors active in Wisconsin. Creating events are an incentive for me to make more progress, be prepared and makes me a safer sailor. Any interest in a regatta, meeting or tour? H...

Merry Christmas Everyone! For the past four years, my two daughters would usually take me skiing on Christmas eve. A great time to hit the slopes as few people are out there. Unfortunately, no snow when it is 40-50 degrees for the past few days! Christmas eve with my parents and midnight mass afterw...

I have (3) Chrysler outboards that I am going to convert into two runners. One is the original long shaft 9.9 with a siezed motor, a 280 with drop damage and low hours and a 12.9 short shaft with a wobbly tiller. The siezed up 9.9 is going to get the 12.9 power head. The 12.9 will be the donor for t...

Very cool indeed. Nice family trip. We don't have "fish" like that in Lake Michigan...very neat to see dolphins. ..... flying carp is the closest thing and at bay in the Mississippi/Chicago rivers.

Very cool. How did you determine the foil shapes, center of the keel and what did you do for ballast?

A small container of apple cider vinegar is supposed to be a very effective repellent. Spraying it on the openings creates a barrier and they will be gone within a day. If you don't mind dusting (Sevin-5), it will kill them over the course of a week. Wear a mask. I have taken the Rambo approach with...

Bridle materials and assembly

I see the posted drawings show the use of 1/8" cable. Is that really necessary? It looks like I could also get away with some inexpensive galvanized/zinc plated caribiners for latching it together. I was thinking of using 5/16 or 3/8 line which would be salvaged from an old jib line from our 47...

Outboard Engine Hood needed for '76 10hp Chrysler

Hello, When we bought the sailboat, the engine was missing its cover. As I have scoured the web, I have learned that a Sailor 250, 9.9, 10, 12.9, 15 HP, Chrysler, Force or Sea King hood have the same form and likely to fit on our engine. I mistakenly bought a hood for an 8HP engine, and it is about ...
