Thanks for the tip. I've looked around at some similar posts and found that the gelcoat beneath the painted portion of the name will be colored slightly since it was protected from the sun. I guess I'll have to go with the lesser of 2 evils in this case.

What was the final fix for this? I'm in the same situation now. The plywood is all rotten in that area. I'm considering removing all of the ply along with the adjustment post, glassing the resulting hole, and inserting new plywood.

I figured out what it is. It's the mast slide for a boomkicker. The previous owner installed it to replace the topping lift apparently. I should have suspected that since the boom kicker was laying in the vee berth.

Thanks the insight, Scott. The original gooseneck is attached to the boom. This piece was just randomly thrown in the cabin. I'm not sure if it belongs to a C22 or not.
