Lake Monroe marina here in Sanford is nice and we have The Lake Monroe Sailing association with a lot of races/excuses to sail and drink. I have the only Chrysler 22. If you don't mind trailering try The Conch House Marina and resort in St Augustine or about a million other Marinas in Florida will a...

It is a lot of work trailering for just a day of sailing so we will plan on at least three day trips throughout Florida. Love the boat and the life!

Sorry to here that Bill. Anyone who has taken on a large project will respect the work you put into that boat, I know I do. I have had to let go of things like that and it can be difficult. I have no idea what your personal situation and reasons are but I can't help but wonder if you have younger fa...

I used 2X6 PT also. I had to find new brackets for the top of the pipes and found the leaf spring brackets from ACE worked well. I used a few bar clamps in tandem to bend the still wet wood.

I am bad about taking photos. Here are a few my buddy took during our first sail. Two of my three sons, Kyle and Carson, were with me.

No jib boom required. My advice would be to do the minimum required to be sea worthy and then do projects while your having fun. If you go for perfect first you may have years of work with no reward (fun) to show or motivate more work.

Well we finally had our maiden voyage today! The new motor arrived late a few days ago and performed beyond my requirements. (It is nice and lite also) We put in at Lake Monroe in downtown Sanford. It was pretty hot in the parking lot. I felt like a side order of bacon. When I put her in I did not e...

The roller I removed had been cut and screwed together but did not turn well and probably contributed to the transom damage. I will take some better photos of the mount I made which is working great. I am finally ready to sail! I ordered a new Tohatsu 6hp Sailpro and it should be here Monday. https:...

I have been searching for a used motor but have not seen any 25" extra long shafts. Will a 20" long shaft work or would it just be wasting my money?

I have been very busy building some tables for a job but have managed to get a few things done. The transom is repaired along with a new motor mount and removable mast support. I will be painting the boat but decided to paint the repaired area with Rust-oleum topside paint to see if I liked it. I br...

Thank you for the info.
Is it normal for the top of the compression post to be in contact or is there any type of plate that would go between the aluminum and fiberglass and disperse the weight? Not much room but I thought I could wedge a piece of aluminum plate in there.

Questions to get her ready for launch.

My goal is to be on the water in a week. I still am not 100% clear on how to use bridles and need to make something. Is there a good post that would explain this that I may have missed? Each photo will be followed by a question. http://i465.photobucket.com/albums/rr12/InteriorArtworks/C22%20sailboat...

I just picked up mine for $800. New tires, sails, no motor. I have a little work fabricating a new mast support, transom repairs and a few new halyard lines and I will be painting and varnishing woodwork. I restored a 1970 Fairlane 500 and ended up spending 5 years doing everything. I enjoy the rest...

C22 project video

Here is a quick video of what I have to work with. I will post some photos along with a few questions soon. I am wondering if I should use one topic thread for everything or post a new thread with each question to perhaps get more response? https://www.facebook.com/robert.a.casler/videos/10205507537...

transom repair

As suspected, the backing below the back stay bracket was gone. I will also need to put something behind the motor mount and swim ladder.

We have the transom repair underway and the boys cleaned out the nasty bilge. Someone put a fresh water bladder in there wrapped in a nasty carpet. They ran the sprayer hose up through the cockpit floor so I will need to fill that hole in. I was able to post a video on facebook but can't seem to emb...

Thanks. I have plenty to work on. One of the first thing will be what to do about the mast support repair. I think people pulled on it when climbing up the ladder over the transom. I was thinking that instead of repairing the glass and reattaching I might make a bracket to attach it to that would sl...

"New" 1978 22'

Hello. I just picked up a C 22 July 4th. This is my 1st sailboat though I have sailed on a much larger 80' Schooner. I have been talking about getting one for 20 + years and teaching my sons. I have a lot of work to do on it but feel it was so cheap that it will be worth it. Besides, when you restor...
