Re: C26 rigging question

I would give you the info off mine Skipper Dan, but I can assure you it is NOT stock, as it was rebuilt 15 years ago out of a salvage yard.
Best of luck in finding your information

Re: Lake Superior

mine is much further south on the west side of Lake Michigan. Have not taken her ( C26 fixed keel ) farther then Mackinac. will be changing boats before spring, so probably will be headed that way at some point ^^

Re: What bodies of water do you sail?

few times I have been,
really high winds and I do not react fast enough ( still semi inexperienced with sailing ) or getting caught with a storm coming and I need to duck in somewhere, but overall not too much that has been much more then a "oh crap, this might not go so well "

I have mine right behind the companion way entrance. I do not use my aft section for sleeping, and there is a shallow holding area on mine with a board that covers it.

Re: What bodies of water do you sail?

Thanks CaptainScott for the link! Great read on the trip to Cuba and the Bahamas. Seems like the '26 is just stable enough for a resourceful skipper to brave the northern Caribbean. I'm a few years away from my next boat, which I anticipate will be a 26. Love the fact that it's got both a heavy swi...

Re: Water Issues

Update- Yes, true enough the leaking is from the motor mounting area. When under motor power I crawled down in the aft section while my wife was trooling around and there is a steady trickle coming right in the furthest reward section where the board ( transium ? ) meets the flooring, this is draini...

Re: Water Issues

Being a fix keel, and rarer was what I was a bit worried about. Will report back after this weekend when we take it back out, and I run baking soda lines in the stern/aft area. This seem to be where most of the dampness comes from, as the V birth is pretty dry, and I can find tear drop moisture drop...

Re: Water Issues

Why aren't you installing a bilge pump? There should be room behind the ladder. I just cut a nice size hole in the floor. Buy a really small pump with a float, plumb it to the sink so that it drains into the sink basin so you know when it is running. Dan That is exactly what I finished purchasing l...

Water Issues

After not being up to the boat for the last two weeks, my wife and I arrived to our C26 fixed keel this last Friday night with about an inch and a half or so standing water in the cabin. ( it was just short of making the ledge step that is before the V birth. Text my friend, that sold me the C26 las...

Re: What bodies of water do you sail?

New to the forum and to sailing. Have a Fixed Keel C26 in Whitehall Michigan, so mostly out on Lake Michigan. Wife and I both grew up on boats, but she spend her childhood in White Lake where our boat is now while I grew up on inland lakes. Still working on getting the hang of it all, had a good fri...
