Well, I would hate for you to have to sell. I don't know too much about trailers, but when we bought our Chrysler 26 a few years back, we just looked on craigslist as we drove up to pick her up and found someone selling a trailer for $200. I think we paid $150. It is not really set up right and we h...

I think I might have what you want. get me at allan.s.kyle@accenture.com. I picked up a full assembly when all I needed was the Rudder itself.

Might be able to help

When I picked up a new rudder blade, I got the whole rudder assembly. That means I have the old assembly and cheeks (without the actual blade) still on the boat that will be spare whe I put the new Rudder on.

easy, in the water method

Did this several times in one day (see my other posts) and it is easy. Not sure of the rigth cabling to use, but heavier the better. You can use the old cable for length, but it is not critical as long as it is long enought (pretty easy to figure from Keel depth) Unwind the old one from the winch an...

Do you still have these? I think I picked up your old rudder and sails, so these would just be coming home.

Glad to see that. If you already have one that has the NACA profile, a mold might allow you to make another one easily and I bet others on this board might pitch in. Their process looked a little hardcore to me, but I guess that is being pro instead of DIY. It should be noted that after making plans...

The smell only became intense when we scraped all the little buggers off and they started dying/rotting in my brothers driveway. Did not add to an already very low wife acceptance factor. We scraped all the buggers off and then had it all sanded down to prep for new bottom paint. Then ran out of ste...

Pics to make your hair stand on end.

Everyone else is posting pics of their shiny "new" boats for the season, so I decided to finally post a few pics of the boat we picked up a couple months ago.

I would suggest it might be easier to float her and go swimming. fixing the keel line in the water is pretty straightforward.

If you are worried about the keel dragging when re-launching, you can use strapping around the whole boat to hold it up until you are ready to drop the keel and fix it.

Just a newbie here, but I would get crazy with all kinds of implements of destruction and a crowbar before thinking about dropping the keel. From some of the other pics, it looks like a lot of work you could be better off avoiding. Could be just the keel line jammed into the side if the keel got put...

Could be mistaken, but recall my boat was aground and all the other boats were swinging on their moorings. Haven't looked at all the pics, just the one posted and it looks like the same boat we drifted over to.

I'll look back at the pictures but van say that there was no C26 near by when we were there (would have been gret to pick up the Wrong one). I havw thw owners number, but I think the boat was dumped there after what some ad called a "theft" or a "failed transaction" and didn't kn...

New C26 Rudder

Guys, I now realize that we are missing a rudder after searching the boat for the old one. I was plannig to just cut a new one from the specs I saw out here and was goign to ask if there are any thoughts on materials. I assume I could use Plywood and seal it up, but would rather use something easier...

re:video

ha ha ha: that is real boat pr0n We ended up redoign the keel line three times at least for various reasons and got it to one dive. but still a pain. No need for a hose for 10 sec dive. Someone else posetd about a hose with a small compessor on th eother end to give you pressure and then you just br...

no experience, but

I can suggest you avoid boats that are grounded, snapped keel lines, leaking/filled with water, bad bottom condition, missing hardware, rotted wood, no title, bad wiring... Oh, wait, thats the one I just bought. Never mind. Good Luck! OT: Where is the video on the keel line? after having replaced th...

Or you could also take her out on the highway, get up a head of speed and jam on the brakes.

Just a thought. but perhaps a bad one.

Check Craigslist as well. I have been looking to outfit our new c26 and have seen a number of sketchy things appear (including a guy that 'found' an anchor and people 'parting out' their boats). I had a bunch of stuff stolen one time and ended up buying it all back from the thief (or probably the fe...

Endangered

I think some of the bottom growth might have been protected species... Seriously it had been sitting for a year+ and had gone beyond just barnacles (damn those things slice when you have to swim for the keel) to include honest to goodness coral formations. A drive in car wash pressure sprayer and so...

C26 Trailer Design

We picked up that C26 off e-bay and during the 2 hour drive managed to find a suitable trailer on craigslist and picked it up enroute (gotta love technology) There may be a long post coming with all of our trials and travails, but in the end we now have the boat sitting on the trailer back home. The...

New to the Board with this aquisition

I had a planned visit to SWF and we had seen this initial auction come and go.

My delayed fligth had me sitting in an airport as the auction was closing and we gave the old, what the old"what the heck" we can pick it up tomorrow.

Look for a bunch of new posts on out progress.
