Thanks! Thank you for both the photo and for the reference. To get me through the end of the season I'll copy your photoed solution in some 1/2" aluminum that I've got. Then tinker with it over the winter. If I am not satisfied, well, I've got some time to get a new piece from rig-rite now that...

Need photos of C-26 Tiller yoke Assembly

Hey Guys, My tiller clamp that bolts to the OEM tiller yoke broke in a windstorm. Possible to find a replacement? (Didn't think so!! lol) So, has anyone else had this problem? If so, how did you resolve it? I could really use some advice, and, ideally, photos for ideas. Thanks! Keith http://i155.pho...

Jeff, may I ask, exactly how do you get a 6:1 purchase on an outhaul?
And (honest question) why?
Thanks

If someone from this forum wasn't already trying to buy it I would myself, just because. Throw a $1,500 trailer under it and what a great deal!! Hell, throw in an overnight road trip from Wisconsin and it's STILL a great deal! Motor Mounts: I've rebuilt mine year before last, then tweeked it last ye...

@Tommy I see you went with white. I went with black for the same reasons. lol Sprayed it with a couple of careful coats of "truck bed coating" which has held up very well, btw. If you can overcome the cheek friction to be able to use your rudder up/down I see no reason why you could not us...

It looks to me like your PO used the zinc as a substitute rudder post retention collar. I have no zinc on my rudder post, but then, fresh water only, and even then only 5+ mos/year. :( check out http://www.flickr.com/photos/sv_red_canyon/ to catch a glimpse (albeit only a glimpse) of my rudder post ...

This looks to me, in my admittedly limited experience, to be the absolutely closest thing that I have ever seen to a "factory stock" original condition, never been upgraded (or improved, let alone restored), as it left the factory C-26. Not the base model, as the first buyer likely is the ...

my setup is very similar the below photo (if I can make this work) of my broken tiller having just been repaired "at sea" [Thank you Lord! for cheap-ass cordless drills] should give you a good visual of the "rudder up" and "rudder down" lines coming up through the rudde...

I've tried to think of something similar. But I very much want/need the ability to lift the tiller high when I am maneuvering in a crowded mooring field or trying to dock under sail. Everything I've come up with so far impedes lifting the tiller.

I sure want to see what you come up with!

rudder hold down line cleating

thanks guys. Just like EE's setup, I have a pair of lines (one to hold rudder up, one to hold it down) the come up the rudder tube and are tied, and which cleat to the top of the tiller. Here is my REAL issue: To cleat to the tiller, the line in use (99% of the time it's the rudder hold-down) has to...

The lake she's on now is 12' at the slip, and no real shallow places at all, so I leave it cleated to the tiller in the down position..lol, actually at the moment the rudder is in the shop here at the house and the motor is at the lake 45 miles away..no interference at all.. OK, so the OEM installa...

@ EE

That is an excellent idea. Especially the "shear pin" component.

Do you do something differently these days?

Also, do you know how the factory set it up on our C-26s? I don't think that I have ever seen what "factory original" was supposed to have been.

c-26 rudder/outboard interferrence

My rudder is plenty long enough to have gotten chewed up by my outboard several times over the last few years when the lock-down had loosened while operating with the motor. I have "There, I fixed it" (see: http://thereifixedit.failblog.org/ ) by installing a prop guard so that if/when the...

Relax, I once took out 17 (yes, seventeen) adults (well, college students, not what you could really call "adults") on Red Canyon. Of course, I was only able to tack by heading up, then backwinding in the opposite direction, and then proceeding. I will readily admit that the handling is co...

C-26 Name

Darin, I dont' know where it comes from, but the sailing.lizards website photos section ( http://chryslersailing.lizards.net/sail_photos.html ) refer to the C-26 as "C-26 Courser." If this was ever a "semi-official" name, (does anyone know?) it would certainly be a cool one. Chec...

questions from a new C-26 owner

I wonder if some of you might take a few moments and help get me up to speed on some questions I've got. Are all C-26's set up with jib blocks attached to the toerails? Or are there some using jib cars and tracks? Do any of you adjust jib blocks for light wind / heavy wind? Or keep the blocks the sa...

Yeah, my choice was to buy something that was going to be yet another project (believe me, I've had a lot of them in my life!) or to buy something that I could simply go sail. I opted for the latter, which of course means that I will STILL have a lot of projects relating to it anyway! For those of u...

"Please allow me to introduce myself .....

I'm a man of wealth and taste.* :) Obviously, since I am scheduled to take delivery of my first sailboat to sail, C-26 #793, this Friday, and hope thereby to join this celebrated and august community. And I have a couple of initial important questions: 1. Do any of you recognize this boat? It's been...
