I bought that same engine, and I wish I hadn't. I like the fuel economy, and the extra long shaft, but it shakes BAD. It makes the whole boat resonate like is a friking blender. Also, there's a flaw design. When you tilt the motor out of the water, and if the water is rough, the level will get stuck...

I don't want to junk up the board with every little thing, so I'll ask this question here. As previously mentioned, I want to fill the areas under the lifeline stanchions with epoxy and then drill. I hope this isn't too stupid of a question, but is there a space between the cabin liner and the side...

How big is it? One way is drilling holes and let it air dry, then inject epoxy resin. I had a couple of soft spots (more like 8) and I had to cut the interior liner and replace the rotten plywood. If I have to do it again, I would cut the exterior skin instead.

I use my keel, that's my deep finder. If I get stuck, I raise it, and if I get really stuck, I jump and push the boat back to where I came from :D

The gas locker has to be open (don't connect the upper scoopers to the lower ones!) You should have a shelf in the locker to keep the gas tank out of the water. In my boat is normal that the locker is usually full of water since the Chrysler 22 is a transom heavy boat. If you locker leaks, check the...

mmmm I've been up to 7 knots with a good wind, mostly 6 knots (I know when water starts to squirt up the rudder tube) This are fairly fast little boats, I know a Chrysler can outsail a bunch of modern boats.

The original mast step (J hook) is made out of aluminum, I'm waiting for mine to break to take to a machine shop and have one made out of SS, I think it'll be more strong. (I found a piece of and old J hook inside my mast when I got the boat, so it has happen already)

If its too rusted, I'd take it to a place they can sandblast it clean. I tried the hammer and wire brush with no results.

I had a longshaft, and it would come out of the water on rough seas, I would recommend the extra-longshaft, that baby goes down DEEP.

Weather's getting nice over here, I might squeeze another sail before the winter hit us.
