What does your boat name mean?

OK, I'll start . . . . . . . Destiny: I've been sailing all my life. My dream was to have a boat big enough with a head. When my bride and I were dating, I had an RC sailboat. Painted her up and named her Destiny for all the odd circumstances that had to occur to bring my bride and I together. The b...

Re: OK Now I See

For some reason I thought the old part of the mast base that is pop riveted onto the bottom of the mast had to come off first. If I understand right you leave the old part on and screw the new upper part of the masthead assembly onto it. Thanks, Carl You are correct, I do not remove the base of the...

I predrilled holes and used coarse threaded screws. Very carefully screwed in one turn and back 1/2 turn then in one more turn and back 1/2 turn until the screws were all the way in.

Finally some sailing!

Got to go sailing on a Clipper Marine 32'er today! Winds were about 15 knots gusting to about 22. We saw hail and a lot of rain! Tempurature must have even managed 43 degrees! WOW!

Tomorrow is suposed to be bad weather so the fact that I have other obligations is not so bad!!

Yes, brand and style do matter. As does cost. Good thing here is from what I've read, the cheaper ugly ones seem to perform better than the fancy newer expensive ones. The shape is actually round. Looks likes several discs shoved together. Creats a great reflective surface for radar. Boat show is co...

I know the waters you will sail. YES. Check my photos of Destiny on my site and get one of those. Sailboats are virtually invisable to radar. I have radar on Destiny and I know. Now if you sail on only bright sunny days, you can go without. However it is likely you'll one day head to Langley. Then m...

I have a similar setup in my garage to lift the hard top off my convertible. Harbor freight. 50 bucks in a box. It has a maximum lift switch but not a switch for maximum lowering. I use a block to get 2-1 purchase for the hard top. Not for lifting strength but to cut the lift speed in half. Don't wa...

I have not seen any docs describing the use of the galley at all in all my searches. I do have two boats with that installed on each. I use a 1961 Singer 503A.

Works on my RC sailboat sails With some care and seams to work fine on my main sail cover. The old thread is shot and its coming apart. I have restiched some of it and it works great!

Especially since I can now reverse it! :)

On my unit, there's a slider that controls stitch length, located on the front of the vertical housing at the right of the machine. Sliding the lever all the way up causes mine to go into reverse. No need to stop as I make the transition, just slide up and it smoothly reverses, then back down to go...
