The problem with sanding is that the glue might melt, that's why I suggested using a heat gun and a scrapper.

Oh not much to say... dinghy got punctured and it was like sinking, and the boat went from doing 5 knots to do 3... I had to muscle that thing up... a total PITA to take apart... never again!

Yup, A/C. I don't need it to be honest, but it makes life so much easier aboard.

It kinda looks messy to have the traveler right by the companion way, but I don't see any other way. Cruising without a bimini is torture.

Oh I see what you mean. Although moving the traveler on top of the companionway, I was thinking in moving it right at the entrance, you know what I mean? The hat sounds like a good idea! At least you live in the North, the summer's over here are really really hot and humid (an A/C would be a lovely ...

Why would you pull the deck? That's a big job to do. When I removed mine (dear PO applied a lot of silicone) I scrapped the whole thing, and I applied 5200 all along the top seam (a generous amount) I'm happy to say that it hasn't leaked in over 4 years.

Moving the traveler

Hey ya'll I've been thinking in moving the traveler from the back of the cockpit to midway (companionship entrance) Has anybody done it in the past? The main reason is that I would love to install a Bimini top. I've got sunburned one too many times, and the cockpit gets mad hot during the day, speci...

Sure thing! I know how much it sucks to work on a boat alone! Specially when you have to remove those pesky stanchion bases and other assorted hardware with bolts inside the cabin!

My number is 910-528-4041. I'm usually busy during the morning, but in the afternoons, I'm free.

If you need help, let me know. I've done that job myself, much easier if you have help (I did it alone, total PITA)

I live in Monkey Junction by the way.

Is probably the same thing. You might want some help once you get all the screws out, that thing is awkward to handle.

Like Banshi said. A friend told me to get the trailer wet with a regular hose before dunking it in the salt water. That way the pores in the metal get saturated with fresh water, preventing rust.

I go by this rule: if you think you need to reef, you need a reef. It is better to be safe and be caught in bad weather with not a whole lot of sail out, than having to replace ripped sails.

The sound is really shallow, so if you don't know the weather or where you are, it can get really nasty.

I was really happy with my 9.9 Mercury. The dual cylinders make for a much smoother ride. I have heard good things about the Tohatsu 9.9 too, but I can't vouch for it.
