Playing in the backyard
We went to NC for the Thanksgiving weekend. Thursday and Friday the temperature was in the mid 60's with winds 20 gusting to 25+. I go the Sunfish out and sailed about 2 hours both days. It wasn't the 26 or the Venture but at least I was on the water. It was a quiet weekend. All the neighbors were a...

Check out my post from Oct ,11 Checking the Keel pin. My deck hull joint leaks and I took on a considerable amount of water. No problems though , the boat is stripped out inside. My convern would be if the hull formed a suction in the mud and the tide came up and into the boat before it broke free i...

Tom I have converted 3 trailers to torsion and built 1 utility trailer from scratch using a torsion. These were all warrenty return axles I got for free from a trailer dealer.I did what repairs I needed and I was good to go. They definetly have there advantages the biggest being no leaves to rust al...

I finaly got pics of my free boat. The hull shape resembles a Laser except for the truncated bow. It has a Sunfish style bailer that looks like a PO install. It needs to be replaced. I can't figure out how the rudder is kept down. Maybe Mario has figured that out on his 10.00 boat. As i stated befor...

Jeff I was just looking at the pics of your trip again and saw you made it to Bell Point up Bay River. You went right past our lot and dock where our 26 is. We are on Cabin Creek, the 1st creek to port up from Bonner bay . there are 3 Deltec homes (round homes) in a row that mark the mouth of the cr...

Tongue weight
I was looking through an old issue of Trailer Boat mag. this weekend and came across this. Its a hitch with a built in load cell and a handheld digital readout that instantly gives you your tongue weight. This probably isn't an issue for those who tow the same load repeatedly but for varying loads i...

Do you take your motor off to tow? You could make a support out of some 3/4 plywood and a 2x4. Cut the ply to fit the motor mount and extend up past it long enough to bolt the 2x4 to it. Cut a vee in the top of the 2x like Alan did then or clamp the plate to the motor mount. I use something similar ...

That would have ment getting changed and a trip into town to West Marine. Well it broke and we wound up sailing with the rudder in the up position. Shark Y...

Out sailing after 4 years
After 4 years at the dock, we finaly got the keel pin inspected and felt safe taking the boat out sailing. ( see previous post). My wife took photo duty driving the power boat. Had a good crew, son, daughter-inlaw, grandson 6yrs (loves sailing) sister in-law and myself. Pics are on the Bay River in ...
