Oh, and to answer your question, I tow Copacetic with a Ford E-150, 5.4 and trailer package. No issues at all, but going up what passes for hills around here I'm sure glad I don't have the 4.6.

Last year I had about 7 feet of water in my slip in Racine, so should still be OK for me, but I bet some of the bigger, fixed keel boats will be sad. On the other hand, launching in spring and then retrieving in fall might get interesting.

What Scott said about steering with rudder up. And if you go into reverse you will be surprised at the force with which the tiller wants to turn. Don't trim it, you'll be glad for the extra length when you heeling and dealing with waves. I just tilt my motor up into a "shallow water" posit...

Get well quick EE.

I'm not crazy about my non-steerable outboard in tight quarters, but I like not taking up space, being able to raise it out of the water when sailing and not having an extra hole below the waterline.

I wonder which is louder in the cabin while motoring.

Let's talk fenders.

I went the cheap Ebay fender route last spring, and lets just say, they're not cheap if they only last one season.

So, what should I get? Taylor Made? Polyform? Something else? I'm looking at 6.5" diameter, double eye style fenders.

A C26 sailed from Canada to Cuba. It's about your skill and confidence level and picking your weather.

If you use one of these, you don't need a separate antenna for FM radio. It really helps pulling in stations when your antenna is up high.

My girlfriend's mother and stepfather both retired from Chrysler and worked there through the 70's and 80's, yet said the familiar, "Chrysler? They made boats?" I think that holds them back. People know the O'Day and Catalina names associated with sailboats. Although they know the Chrysler...

I tow mine with a heavier than normal trailer behind a 1998 Ford E-150 conversion van. 5.4L and towing package. It does a fine job, but I'm glad for the 5.4, apart from the fuel stops.

Hi I'm Tom. My screen name is first initial and last name. When I first signed up here, I didn't have a Chrysler boat yet. I was looking for, and found, a 1979 Chrysler 26. I was previously a beach cat sailor, having owned a MacGregor 16 and then a Hobie 18. With the price of gas, I haven't been abl...

That looks bomb proof! Be careful you don't chip or crack the hatch when you slide it open, it looks like it could contact the new mast pedestal.

I have that exact same light and haven't mounted it yet. It comes wired so that you turn both on with one switch. That's not really a problem, rewiring it is easy. What really bothers me is that the bosses for the screws holding the lights on protrude out the back. So it won't really fit flush again...
