I might also be asking them (the marina) why no one was notified of the accident, assuming that if they were working on her (inspecting the keel pin, etc.) then they should have noticed when she fell off.

I'd agree about the inspection being their responsibility - both pre and post repairs

Oddly enough, we've been looking at South Baldwin County real estate (along the Fish and Weeks Bay) as a home for our C26 !

What year is your C26 ? Some years have lead bars encased in foam in the keel for ballast. Is the water standing in the cabin (on the sole), or exactly where ?

That sounds like a good solution. I would agree the rubber rail is more useful on the stern than the bow. If you didn't want to use wood, could you use metal and extend the sides of the piece that caps the toerail at the bow ? Good luck, keep us posted, we may be in the same shape ourselves one day ...

I thought I posted a reply yesterday, but it never showed up. If I see the pic right, that section of toe rail by the middle chainplate is the part damaged beyond repair ? If so, you may be right, and you could splice out the bad, slide from the stern forward and weld the good back together. You're ...

Ouch, sorry to read that ! How many feet were damaged ? If not much and you can't find a match, possibly remove the damaged and take it to a machine shop. Could be they can get some same dimension T-extrusion and cut a matching drain holes in the old section, if not straighten the damaged piece itse...

We're going to use the stern berth area for storage, so we've removed that nasty set of drawers, and will build some more in the ster...

Don't know that it matters, but personally I always kept the keel up. Tides on Lake Ponchartrain never varied by much at all, but I always figured if I left it down it might get stuck in the bottom. Wonder if it is less prone to marine growth tucked up in the pocket than left down ? As far as rudder...

The C26 sailplan shows the full 170% genny goes nearly to the masthead, but the 100% one looks like a couple feet short of the masthead.

All of them show the tack attaching at the deck.

Concrete & Lead/Funny Story

Had always heard that 79 C26's had ballast made from concrete and lead pellets, while earlier models had foam and lead bars. Began tearing up the sole of EE today in the area between the steps and the keelhead, and found that under the ply it is bilge (connecting to the area under the rear berth) up...

There is also a figure for maximum displacement - defined as the weight of the amount of water displaced by the boat at its maximum immersion level in calm water without water coming aboard. I agree with Windwalker - surely the Chrysler folks did not use that maximum figure, so the boat likely weigh...

The sliding galley sounds like an idea I might look at. I have seen a rear sleeping berth oriented across the beam with the sleeper's head on the starboard side, feet in the port behind the galley. You know, Dave, if the timing works out, that would be fun as a trip before it finds a permanent berth on the coast. Probably there are a number of C22 owners that could make that trip as well. If I read correctly in another post you said your C26 was sitting on the original cradle. If so you could get bunk measurements from that. If you have a crane at the marina and wherever it is going, possibly you could use a large tandem flatbed and just set the cradle and boat on that. Lash it all d...
