Here's the link to the vacuum bagging post in rcgroups: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=966524 I like your idea of using an aluminum frame around the portlight. It's got me thinking about changing my approach to re-doing mine. I want to use clear Lexan for better light transmission b...

$154.00 a gallon? WOW! I guess if it goes far and lasts - what the heck.

Sounds interesting, I suppose the texture could be varied by using different rollers.

Looking forward to pics of the finished product . . . .

if memory serves me right, and god knows it doesn't always, Chrysler outboards were marketed under the 'Force' name after the dissolution of Chrysler Marine. Any comments?

I find that it is difficult to pull up the rudder when out of the water, in the water it is very buoyant and comes up on its' own

The tank is steel of some description, it must be of decent quality because mine has had no internal corrosion at all.
When I bought the boat it had half a tank of vintage diesel so I was worried about corrosion or a layer of muck, but it was surprisingly clean with no corrosion - bonus!

Smaller, heavier sailcloth, and most importantly, the sail is much flatter (less draft) so it doesn't generate as much power and can be flattened right out. The problem with releasing tension on your sheets in windy conditions is you're actually creating a sailshape that is generating more power mak...

Reef early - reef often, the old guys used to say! Enough can't be said about the benefits of a good storm jib too! One of the best heavy weather sail I had was on a Tanzer 22 with a reefed main and storm jib. The boat was balanced and very responsive to the helm, what could have been a white-knuckl...

Buy the purest you can, ie 99%. I use medical grade that can be had in 4litre jugs at veterinary supply stores.

Not necessarily- alcohol won't collect as a gas in your bilge and blow you sky high, and it is easily extinguished using water!

I'm still using the pressure alcohol stove. I haven't done it yet but I'm thinking of using a small squirt bottle for the warm-up shot - using the burner control makes it hard to meter out the right amount!

weight of C26 mast

Anybody know why our masts are so doggone heavy? I have always raised my masts single handed and still do with the Chrysler, but with a gin pole, bridle, block and tackle, etc. My Hobie18 had a taller mast and carried more sail and the Mac26 carried a sail area similar to the C26 and had a very ligh...

You gotta let me in on your crabbing technique!! We tried crabbing when bareboating out of Vancouver last Sept. but only managed 1 red rock for 5 hungry sailors ! ! !

Good weekend here also - 3 days of wind and sun!! Saw 6.2knots on the GPS running with a reefed main on Saturday, ye-haw!!

Rightly or wrong, I made a slot on my trailer for the keel to sit in so the weight is carried by the trunk. I know it probably sat on the keel for 30 years but it just didn't seem right!

better check that output as to whether it's AC or DC. Magneto output is AC and is fine for lights but DON'T hook it to the battery!
I'm guessing it won't have a rectifier to change it to DC, but check it to find out!

good luck

on my 26 with a 150 furling genny the sheets are outside the lifelines running back to snatch blocks on the toerails, then back to the turning block, winch then the cleat. Unless you have an inboard track or running a working jib you'll likely have to do the same. I clip the forward end of my lifeli...

check valve sounds like a good idea, but might not work, at least not the way I did it! I tried a check valve located above the pump at the top of the bilge but even though it stopped backflow at that point, an air lock was created at the pump preventing any water from being pumped. I removed the va...
