Here's the link to the vacuum bagging post in rcgroups: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=966524 I like your idea of using an aluminum frame around the portlight. It's got me thinking about changing my approach to re-doing mine. I want to use clear Lexan for better light transmission b...

Smaller, heavier sailcloth, and most importantly, the sail is much flatter (less draft) so it doesn't generate as much power and can be flattened right out. The problem with releasing tension on your sheets in windy conditions is you're actually creating a sailshape that is generating more power mak...

Reef early - reef often, the old guys used to say! Enough can't be said about the benefits of a good storm jib too! One of the best heavy weather sail I had was on a Tanzer 22 with a reefed main and storm jib. The boat was balanced and very responsive to the helm, what could have been a white-knuckl...

weight of C26 mast
Anybody know why our masts are so doggone heavy? I have always raised my masts single handed and still do with the Chrysler, but with a gin pole, bridle, block and tackle, etc. My Hobie18 had a taller mast and carried more sail and the Mac26 carried a sail area similar to the C26 and had a very ligh...

on my 26 with a 150 furling genny the sheets are outside the lifelines running back to snatch blocks on the toerails, then back to the turning block, winch then the cleat. Unless you have an inboard track or running a working jib you'll likely have to do the same. I clip the forward end of my lifeli...

check valve sounds like a good idea, but might not work, at least not the way I did it! I tried a check valve located above the pump at the top of the bilge but even though it stopped backflow at that point, an air lock was created at the pump preventing any water from being pumped. I removed the va...

I look up at it after each gust . . . hoping it's still holding!! has anyone ever had rigging fail? I've never had it happen personally, but have seen it on o...
