If you look through my photos you will find a couple of pics from inside that show the diesel. What it doesn't show is how much room is taken up by the engine enclosure when it is in place. I removed my galley and re-located it forward on the port side against the bulkhead. I did that to be able to ...

ah, what the hell, skitters have to eat too! my lowers are 24" each (x4). From the top of those you'll have to take a line from each side to the eye on the mast (~6 ft. from base) and lines to the top of your gin pole (or boom). What material are you going to use? Some adjustability would be ni...

I see nobody is jumping on that one!!! I could measure mine, but I don't use the boom as I quickly got tired of stripping it every time I needed to step the mast. That said, the only difference in length would be the overall as the lower harness is the critical one. My raising rig is in the back of ...

my batteries are under the settees, one port, one starboard, as far forward as I could get them. I built crude plywood platforms with 2x under the inboard edges to level the batteries. Works well and gets 150lb. down low and close to the C.E. !

you'll still need some hardener for the resin to 'go off' (harden). Pre-treating with resin on older wood that is porous and then applying resin mixed with hardener is a common way to strengthen wood that has lost its' strength due to weathering. My tiller was a basket case when I got the boat so I ...

only problem is, with the Martec folding prop I put on, I have almost no reverse thrust! I'm going to go back to the stock prop next time I pull the boat out and put up with the drag and noise when the prop starts turning at 4kt.

these boats really can sail!!

I haven't been able to get much sailing time on my 26 since buying it in '09, the 5 day cruise last fall saw no wind interrupted by one day of 'hang on and hope' winds. Today was different though. Good breeze out of the south (flat water) and another boat to sail against made me appreciate these boa...

most cost effective might be a Beta (marineized Kubota)and saildrive unit. http://soundmarinediesel.com/aboutbetamarine.html . Installation is pretty straightforward using the fibreglass engine bed. Just shape the bed to the profile of the hull and glass it in. As far as the OEM setup it used a Volv...

I placed my batteries (one port, one starboard) in those lockers ('under the seats' in my parlance!). No boxes, I just made plywood platforms to keep them level. I had no problem removing my ladder, required two of us though, as I only have two arms! Some fasteners broke off but replaced all with st...

the 22s may be positively buoyant (fewer as the years go by, by the sounds of it!) but I can't see how the 26 would be.
Positive buoyancy means the boat will float even if filled with water, I believe.

looks like it's done more sitting than sailing! interior doesn't look half bad, not much evidence of leaks. looks like something is living in the starboard coaming storage!

You won't find any foam in the 26. Hondas are easy to work on, I tore down an 8h.p. I used to have to replace the rings. The only problem is with some of the bolts they use - salt eats them up bad!
