Great job on the boat. Can't help you with an all white 22 but my 26 has a white deck. My plan is to refinish the non skid in gray or tan like yours. The white throws quite a glare and shows dirt easier than a color.

Onlineoutboards.com. They had a leftover available at the time. I would've only saved less than 100. but the 13's have the shift lever foward on the coel. that's nice. It also came with a 3 gallon tank. I was using a 6 hp Johnson that I had to spray to start when it was cold. after that it would sta...

I recently bought a new motor for Venture South.I got a 9.8 Tohatsu with electric start. Its a little overkill for that boat but it was the smallest they had with electric start. I wanted electric start in case a crew member needed to start it.A neighbor has a 6 hp that is a single cylinder that runs...

Welcome to the forum. Nice looking boat .Have you stepped the mast yet? If you step it try it with and without the rotting plywood blocks. Maybe they were used to compensate for stretched or incorrect replacement stays. If that is the case just replace them with new epoxy coated blocks. Not quite su...

The Mac 22 is a good choice. I have 2. They're easy to set up and a lot of parts are available from Bluewater Yachts. There is also a very active forum at askamcgregerowner.com . They also cleanup nicely. The only funkey thing inside is that sculpted carpet on the cabin overhead. We sailed with that...

Terrence, Concrats on the O'Day.We just got back from NC this afternoon. I was surprised to see your post with your new boat. I know you prefer fresh water but if you want to sail on the Bay River / Pamlico Sound, tow it up to our house and put it in at our ramp. I'll call you in the next day or two...

I've been diagnosed with stage 4. I also have realized its genetic. Our son and daughter are also afflicted and our 8 year old grandson is showing early signs. He was riding in the truck with me the other day and saw a sunfish sitting out in a yard and asked if I thought it might be for sale. He lea...

You might want to hold on to the Mac. Whats that draw with the keel up 1 foot? Do you spend any time on the askamcgregorowner forum? There's always someone on there looking to upsize. I saw on there Roger Mcgregor is retiring this spring and shutting down production. His kids are taking over the boa...

I agree with EE on using a Garelick mount mounted off center.I have to have my rudder up to get into my dock and that does not work well with the motor in the center.I bought a Honda 15 and Garelick mount from Frank several years ago when he was selling his 26. He had the Garelick mounted off the ba...

Pop top upgrades.
Have any of you with 22 pop tops put gas strut assist to lift them? I've never seen any posts relating to that and was wondering. I've been going to do it to at least 1 of my Ventures. They are killers to lift. Its a popular upgrade on the McGregor Owners forum and looks pretty easy. I was just wond...

I finally found the truck I've been looking for. Its an 05 Dodge 2500 HO Cummins, 325 hp 4X4 with 3:73 gears, quad cab long bed with a cap. The rear is a posi which means most trips up the ramp I don't need 4 wheel drive. It has a 12K tow rating which will pull anything I'll ever want to pull. Low e...

I've built more trailer axles than I can remember. One thing I always do is seal weld the spindles in. Then I drill and tap for 1/4 NPT on the top of the axle. I then pressure test my welds with air. After they pass the pressure test, I fill the axle with waste oil. Those axles will never rust from ...

When I get to the point of doing a fuel system I will mount a 12 gallon tank under the cockpit. I have used this system on one of my Ventures for 10 years and it works well. I use a combination fill, vent cap mounted on the stb. combing. No fumes in the cockpit or cabin and one fill lasts the summer...
