Out of the water after 8 years.

As mentioned in another thread,I took a trailer to NC to pull my 26. I have owned her for 8 years and she's never been out of the water. Once a year I would stand in the water at my dock and scrape barnacles with an ice scraper. Last summer the rudder downhaul broke. I have had this trailer for abou...

I towed a single axle trailer from Pa to NC recently. Taking it down had 2 purposes. One was to stop in De and pick up a load of lumber...tax free. 2nd was to pull my 26 out of the water, fit it to the trailer and fix my rudder downhaul. (another thread). This trailer will have a 2nd axle put under ...

Concrats on the job. Sounds like a dream job. I buy my Sunfish parts from them. Missing the point on too many hulls. Why slog along at 6 knots when you can fly at 12- 13 plus? I'd trade my whole fleet of monohulls for a 32ft cruising cat.

IT looks like your hull cleaned up nicely from the first pics of the boat. Are your windows as clean as they look in the pics? Will you reuse them? Don't you just love indoor storage?

I need a section for my 26 and did just that. when Moonshine Jim was parting out his 22 I went and got his port toerail. I'll figure out the best place to ma...

Welcome to the forum. As mentioned above there is a wealth of information here. It looks like you're of to a good start with the sturdy cradle you've assembled.. As mentioned above, it sounds like FX outsourced the sails and had no control over delivery. The only way you can assure locally crafted sails is to walk into a loft strike a deal and shake the owners hand. Then if you want truely made in USA you have to be sure of the origin of the material they wi...

Good thought on the diesel. By the time I got there so much of the cabin ,deck ,etc.was in the bottom of the boat it was hard to see what might have been. The closed transom did appear to be OE.

Just got back from NC. This retirement is great! Last Saturday we put the bikes in the truck and went in to ride around Oriental. We were riding and came to one of the boatyards. There in the parking lot among all the high priced sailboats for sail were the remains of a burgandy hull sailboat in the...

I've often thought about that. My Ventures have transom mounted rudders and theu're great. It would be easy to do. On a 26 you would have to fill in the motor mount opening and mount the motor off to one side. I plan to do that anyway. My questions are: will moving the rudder back change the center ...

As well as providing jacking for a flat tire, jacks at each wheel let you take the weight off the springs for storage. They would also help in blocking up the boat off the trailer for putting on bottom paint. Harbor Freight and Tractor Supply sell non-castoring Ag equipment jacks in the 20.00 range....
