* I just realized that I named the thread mainsail storage, fixed it, sorry for the confusion* Yeah, I have been considering how to make better use of the aft area as well. I have spent so much time making the cabin look nice and sparkly. To pile up a bunch of crap in there after all of my efforts j...

Headsail storage

I debated where I would post this, but ultimately decided it belonged in this sub-forum, because in the end, it's about aesthetics and convenience. So I like to keep three headsails aboard, and they obviously take up a lot of space. So far, they've been crammed into sail bags and sitting on the v-be...

I don't have a pop top, but my buddy's Catalina 22 MKII does, and it works pretty much the same way. I don't think it has the pins on the legs though. It relies solely on a mast fitting that rides in the sail slug slot, and has a knurled nut to lock it into place after you slide it up to engage the ...

Sorry for your troubles, I had rudder line problems my first time out as well. I haven't measured it myself, but the manual says 27' 7" for the forestay and 30' 1 1/2" for the tall rig. Good luck!

I have the same question as J. Austin. Personally, if I were towing that far on a single axle trailer, I would probably replace all of the bearings regardless of what condition I THINK they are in. I had a bearing go out on I-20 on my first day of ownership and it was not fun. It got so hot that the...

Ha ha, I do work a very early shift. Ok, I checked the voltage running from it. The voltage is low until you rev it up pretty good, then (with an open circuit) it runs up to about 14 volts. I am assuming that it has some kind of diode to prevent the battery from backfeeding a charge into it at low R...

Everything Paul said is true, it's quite an awkward balance of weight once it clears the hull. Having done this on the hard, I can say it would be quite a challenge without taking a swim. In addition, the oxidation of the aluminum made it quite difficult for me to get the bronze collar off.

Old Honda outboard 5 amp charger- Safe for electronics?

Good morning! I wanted to ask for opinions on this so don't feel like your answer is binding. I am running an early/mid 80's Honda BF75S (7.5 hp) outboard and it has an onboard 5 amp charging circuit. I am wondering if it has sufficient voltage regulation and rectification to be used in circuit with...

You'll probably have a rough time finding that spring unless someone here can send you one. Perhaps you could install one of these?

That's excellent! I think you will continue to be pleasantly surprised. Do you know what the wattage rating is on those? I'm still using plain 'ole incandescent 10 watters. I've gotten some good things done on my boat this year, but an LED upgrade will probably have to wait another year.

Yeah, that sound like what EE is describing (the strips). The stuff I bought at the RV supplier was flat, like a thick, continuous strip of Doublemint gum. This has been linked to once or twice on here, but for anyone interested, it's really worth a look: http://www.sailnet.com/forums/gear-maintenan...

Shiny new stainless C-22 keel brackets for sale

Guys, after a re-assessment of my keel brackets this off season, I have come to the conclusion that after scraping the rust off (that I first thought was rust from the brackets but turned out to be rust from the keel), I found that my keel brackets are actually in pretty darn good shape. I just prim...

It might work just fine. The beauty of it is that if it doesn't work out you can just take them back off. For attaching my frames I used 4200 because I was displeased with how well the screws were holding them on, so I went with the adhesive; the butyl rubber is a sealant exclusively, it has zero ad...
