The biggest problem I see is the fact that there aren't many right angles in the original galley. Every thing is shaped to fit the hull except for one corner. My galley is still out and will be the last thing put back in. You are welcome to stop by and make patterns if you are up this way.

I stripped down the mast and used it for a ridge pole. One 1x4 cross buck at each end lashed to the pull pit and stern rail and a lenth of PVC over the mast step. I used a T shaped piece of aluminum in the end of the pipe to help give me some thing to lash the mast to. I put a few lenghts of left ov...

The thin end goes forward to allow it to curve with the shape of the sail. The thick end supports the leach of the sail and helps keep it flatter and straight.

The thicker foam does take up more head room in the v berth than you would think. The main thing I would look at is the retationship of the settees, the backs and the deck above. 2" can make a lot of difference there. I cannot sit up in the area's where the deck overhangs. I put a slight angle ...

Actually, we cut the new cushions for comfort not storage access. V berth now 3 cushions, Rear bearth two with a small pointed cushion behind the rudder post. The port and starboard berths are the same.

The best tool I have found is a right angle die grinder. Paid about $25 at lowes. Get the course 2" grinding disks. They last a long time and give you the ability to feather the edges of the blister. You will find that few of the blisters will be a perfect circle and grinding them gives you the...

Most of the center board/drop keel boats I have been on bang around a little. My thoughts on sailing in really rough weather are to reduce sail and crank the keel up snug.

I have adjusted trailers at the ramp a few times. It is not that difficult but you will need to make sure the trailer can go far enough in to get under the keel. Be prepared to get wet for a couple of hours. I would do it on a day when you can have a long time to work on it. My 26 needed a 10 ft ton...

A trailer would have to be galvanized before it is assembled and painted. Typically the whole frame is welded up and then sent to be hot dipped in zink. The painted trailer should last a long time if you just be really obsesive about rinsing after a salt water bath. I always go to the nearest car wa...

Have you looked at used J22 mains? Looking at the dimensions they seem to be very close. There are lots of J22s out there with racing owner that buy new sails regularly. The jibs would probably not work.

We cut new hatch slides drop boards and treads out of Ipe. Much cheaper than teak you can get it at the high dollar building supply houses intead of treated lumber. Nice red color clear boards without knots but it is very heavy wood.

The taller rig will gives a higher aspect ratio for the sail. =less drag for the amout of sail area. Should sail better in all winds and point higher. You may be able to use a J22 main sail if you are looking for used sails. Check out some of the used sail web sites for measurements.
