Howdy, My name is Ryan. "Padiunka" as an avatar I have had since the internet first dawned for me back in the mid 90's. Padiunka was the name of my first Chinchilla (small furry squirrel looking thing). I named him Padi, as I picked him up on my way home from getting my dive certificate at...

Ha! Those things are alittle too fast for this kid. They race on Winnebago on the good ice years. I think I will stick to the 5-9 MPH range. It does remind me of my younger days before my knees went out. We would head out on the frozen bay after a good snow with 4 line power kites and our snow board...

Tugs on my heart strings to know you salty dogs didnt hit the water much this summer. I am sad that Andante is sitting in her cradle already. But I should feel blessed. We logged over 600 miles under sail this summer on the Bay. We learned alot, had a boat load of fun, got a killer tan, and had our ...

This topic reminds me of my Buc 18. The previous owner replaced the original wood center board with a powder coated steel one. Although I never sailed her with tho wood one. She seems quite stable for her size.

Amen to that, we deffinatly avoid the crabs on the Great Lakes! I did get to do some scuba off the Andante two weeks back. Amazing ...

A picture of your head sail would be helpful, but it is possible that it is used with a roller furler/reefer.

Capt Bondo~ that's her sepc sheet. I think you really nailed it EE. The 10' beam makes a world of difference especially coupled with the head forward layout. She is roomy even for most 27's I have been in (Hunters/Cats). She is one big girl. The only thing is the fixed keel. Drawing just under 5' me...

What the heck is a chrysler 27?

Several of you have asked me: "whats is up with the Chrysler 27? we don't see that very much" And to be perfectly honest with you, I haven't found much on the web about them either aside from the obligatory spec sheets and stock drawings. I am, however, very glad I found the "andante&...

I would agree that 23 degrees would be a good number. But as mentioned, every boat is different. So many different factors involved. I personally dont feel like I need to heel like a mad man but I do sail with others that feel they are going faster when they do. Witch is of course untrue. The more y...

I use the main halyard on my Buccaneer as a topping lift when at anchor or at the beach to keep the boom above head height.

Nice work in reverse! I know sailboats normaly dont fair to well in reverse. I was unaware that the 22/26's faired any better. I do know that my newly aquired c27 handles like a pig in reverse. I have the same issue with the genoa on my 27. I was thinking of going higher with it as well. However my head sail is mounted to a CDI roller reefer. Unfoutunatly the extrusion for the reefer that mounts over the top of the forstay does not look to be long enough to accomodate the entire genoa bein...
