Duh ... I start thinking about this, and realize that of course the 3 wires will see low common resistance. Two pair will see the resistance of a single filament, while the other pair will see the resistance of both filaments. So, I just need to find which pairing measures the sum of the other two p...

Wonder if it's just a setup to control the mast lighting from either the rear switch or the forward switch. Like at either end of the hallway of a house, etc. I was thinking that too, but it doesn't quite look like that. With wires disappearing into the hull, I can't be sure, but I did try switchin...

Circuit question.
Hi All! Me again! So, I was installing a nice battery, testing the shore power transformer, and generally chasing circuits. Bow and stern lights are controlled by switches just inside the cable, to the left as you descend. There are two other switches there, one of which is involved with the mast he...

The other issue is we have no stern rail ??? so someone or something has to keep the mast up high enough to engage the step and balance the weight of the mast hanging off the stern of the boat. Heh, I made the Most Ugly Mast Holder(tm), ie an 8 ft board, on crossed 2x4s, with smaller boards making ...

I had my wife puttering around in the garden, so I called her to help clear the shrouds that got stuck on the winches, and the later to hold the lifting line as I went aft to clear the fouled chain plate connector for the aft stay. In both cases I could have easily tied off the lifting line and done...

What I did was, 1 ) Put the mast foot on the step. I found that for my mast to engage the step without obstruction, the top of the mast had to be raised about 3 ft higher than the base, 2 ) put the jin pole in place, pin in the mast base. 3 ) attach jib halyard to one of the loops at the end of the ...

Thanks to Capt. Scott's great instructions, her mast is now raised. http://arclite.dyndns.org:8111/MastUp.jpg Two things I noticed for other complete noobs, 1 ) The lower shrouds love to grab the winches as the mast raises. Luckily my wife was on hand to pop them free. 2 ) Two of my .. um what do yo...

I actually appreciate that. I'm picking up the proper terms as fast as I can .69Shark wrote: Forgive me but I have to . . . A stay is runing for or aft. You have a forestay and an aft stay. The spreaders hold the shrouds on place! Shrouds are on the port and starboard of your boat. Sorry, I had to.

For my 22 with the odd boom, I'm going to hunt down an aluminum pole for stepping the mast. Heh, yea that would be best, but a shaped piece of metal of which is thick enough to resist the sheer load, and long enough to make a good lever, and yet hollow enough not to weigh 500lbs is hard to find :)....

Looking at this issue more, do you think that I should ... Try to modify my boom somehow to act as a jin pole ( maybe try to make up a pin that fits around the screw? ) Try to find a piece of metal to act as a jin pole. or Make up a wooden jin pole. Do you think an 8' 4x4 wooden pole would be strong...

Mast rising question
Oh Great and Wise C22 owners ... I have been preparing to raise my mast in the driveway, for training, and came upon a conundrum. Reading the manual, in particular the part about using the boom as a gin pole, it mentioned a 5/8 x 3 'mast erection pin' that gets inserted into the cylindrical hole at ...

Investigating the rudder thru-hull, from below I see the rudder shaft go straight up to the tiller. It is a solid cylinder inside a cylindrical sleeve, inside a cylindrical channel. When I move the rudder, there is rotation in the sleeve. Is that OK? What should I be looking for on the thru-hull? Ho...

Things to worry about :)
Hi all,
I'm looking to put my c22 in the water for the first time this spring, and was wondering if she has any underwater hull penetrations, in particular the swing keep pivot. Do I need to test this area out in some way before floating her off?

Woot. Got my mooring. Now what do I need?
Hi all, I just got notification from the town that I got a mooring. So I'm wondering what I need to kit out my c22 for the spring. In particular, do I need an automatic bilge pump? And on a c22, where in the world does it go? I don't seem to have an access to any space under the interior cabin floor...

Winter tarperizing.
Hi all!
I had a quick question. I'm overwintering my C22 on a trailer in my driveway, here in Rhode Island. Would you suggest I cover it with a tarp? Or leave it exposed? Does it matter? We can expect some snow several times over the winter.
Thanks,
Chris

C22 Compass mount?
Hi all again, I have a suunto compass, as seen here. http://fortins.org/compass_front.jpg http://fortins.org/compass_behind.jpg Its about 4 inches in diameter, close to a sphere, with mounting points on each side. For scale, that is a c22 window I'm replacing next to it. I have some brass strapping ...

Mast raising bridle specs
Hi all, I've been looking for specifications to make my own mast raising bridle for my c22 ( non-poptop ). Anyone have a description on how to make one?
