River sailing can give you a lot of practice tacking, also can be tricky dealing with the wind and the effects that the shoreline can make. My home sailing ground is Lake St.Croix which is a wide part fo the St. Croix river, 1/4 mile to 2 miles wide and about 12 miles long, so depending on the wind ...

New carpet for bunks on the C22 trailer

I'm looking to replace the rotted green astro turf  on my trailer bunks. The bunks are 12' (144") 2x6's. Looking around I finding that most standard bunk carpet to cover 2x4's. 1. What have folks been using to cover there bunks? 2. Does the commercial bunk carpet sold to cover a 144"...

Trev
You noted/linked a pole that was 4 to 8 feet, I was thinking of a 6 to 12.
Does the 4 to 8 handle your 150?

I'm in, if possible.
A fall rally may be cool, changing leaves, less boat traffic, possible open slips in marinas.
I'll check some things out and let you know what I find.

I have seen folks mark their anchor with a cheap buoy like a old milk or juice jug, when they use a anchor to keep their boat pulled off a jetty or rocky shore. Weather Bubba woulda/coulda seen or made sence of it...who knows. Trev, the problem where we sail is that most boats have more horse power ...

Doing rough math that would be a production run of over 20 years :? Thats still a lot of boats, when did the Chrysler 22 go into production? I just ...

As to heeling; My C22 will heel to about 25 degrees and hold that through a range of wind. Once gusts take us over the 25 ...

It's my understanding from the PO that "Happy Place" spent 15 years in a field before he bought it.
Just think of all the wear and tear that has been saved. 32 year old boat used only 17 years...and then deduct time spent in winter storage 8)

Be aware that that is a trailer for a outboard, so the axle is set back on the frame to help balance the tongue weight offset by the outboard motor. Since the majorty of the weight on the C22 is the keel centered under the boat. If you mount your boat to far forward your tongue weight will be out of...

Adding to Trev's comments, I have wondered how the effects of road salt weeken the trailer hitch over time. I had a nice receiver hitch installed on my van when I bought it new in 98, but now after 12 years of winters in the upper midwest, I'm sure the rated capacity is not what it should be.
