I installed a 12 gallon tank under the cockpit of my Venture. Its been there for 10 years with no problems. I installed a combination fill vent cap I purchased from West Marine. I put 6 gallons in at the beginning of the season and have left over in the fall. These tanks come in various sizes, 12 , ...

I just got back to PA from NJ. As Jim posted I met him today to purchase some parts from his 22. Sad story about his boat but some times you just have to kniow when to fold them. He still has alot of stuff left. Lifeline stansions and lifelines, portlight frames, motor mount, pushpit, rudder, furler...

Hi Jim I might be interested in the bow pulpit for one of my Venture 22's if you still have it. I would need to know the dimenson from the bow to the foward and aft stansions as well as the distance between them port to starboard. Also I might be interested in the port toerail. the one on my 26 took...

There is a good fuel system claener that I have used for years. It is SEA FOAM. It was developed in the 40's for outboards.. I use it in my chainsaws, trimmers, outbaords and vehicles, gas and diesel. When used a a poorly running engine, you can hear the idle speed pick up as it runs through the eng...

Mark In the second picture, it appears the tilt of the motor is further down than the first. The cavitation plate is below the bottom of the boat which is where it needs to be. Looks good to me. If you're uncomfortable with that, is there any chance of the extension piece from the old motor fitting ...

Jeff Mostly they just had standard Danforth style . There was a plow achor there but I didn't pay attention to brand. Stopped at the consignment shop next and met the new owners. They changed the place around a bit. They now have the checkout just as you come in the door. Shortley after they took ov...

Do you know anyone with a tig welder? If you can't find the piece to buy, that looks easy enough to make. Just cut the pieces out of aluminum bar ( available online) and have the pieces tiged together. Shouldn't cost too much for the 2 sizes you need. You can check out aluminum prices at mcmaster ca...

If you have a manual, I say go for it. Check on price and availability of parts before starting. Before taking apart, you might want to do a compressoin check to see if you want to do rings while you're at it. As i've said before you never know when you might call on the knowledge you gain by workin...

Pa Sailor I live about 20 minutes from Nockamixon in Plumstead Twp. I've only sailed on it 2x since it was built 35 years ago. Once on my Prindle and a shakedown cruise on my M scow. My father in law had a rural mail route in the valley that formed the lake. We drove through there while they were ge...

I've used Bearing Buddies succesfully for about 25 years. I have them on all my trailers. The advantage of them is the spring keeps the hub pressurised to keep water out. One pump before you leave and you're good to go. You are correct aboout different greases being incompatible. If however you alwa...

EE Here are the pics of my rudder cradle and my mast support. I made the rudder cradle from scrap steel I welded together. I made it a bolt on. The rudder is heavy and now I don't have to lift it up into the boat. It also eliminates the blue bottom paint marks in the cockpit and cabin. The mast supp...

Very nice job. the paint job looks great. Was it sprayed, brushed, or rolled? Does she have a swing keel? Looks very much like my Venture 22s. I'll have to post pics of my gudgeon mount mast support for trailering. I also made a rudder cradle on the trailer frame up foward. It saves loading it in th...

John I just looked at picture 12 again. Could you tig another piece of plate onto the angled plate with the holes? This would hang vertically just outboard of the SS collar. You could slot or enlarge the existing holes so your haylards will passthrough them. Then you could mount turning blocks onto ...

You may have mentioned it and I missed it, did you have to cut anything off your mast or adjust the length of your shrouds? Tha...

Hi Key West That would be a great motor to hold on to if you can fix or get fixed for a reaosnable cost. I have the same vintage motor only a 15 hp. I bought it from a former member of the forum but have not yet had it on my 26. It sounds like it is suffering from owner neglect and should be able to...
