Tohatsu idle revisit...........
I tried this and mine still does not idle correctly but I finally found a forum post where a outboard mechanic recommended drilling out a welsh plug. I was apprehensive to say the least but after some more research I found out this welsh plug covers an air mixture adjustment screw that the US govern...

Aside from the fastening issue the only thing I see wrong is the radius of the corner at the bottom of the top plate. It needs to be the same as the distance from the center of the pivot pin hole to the edge of the plate to prevent it from binding as the mast stands up. The pivot pin hole might also...

I have mine in a wood pocket underneath the port seat just in front the keel cable thru hull. You have to remove one end of the pocket which is held on with wing nuts to get it out. Being my first non dingy sailboat I have learned that if it can turn over or come loose it will at some point, lock it...

Very hard to reach........and I have long fairly skinny arms. Find a plug for a hole big enough to work through and then drill a hole on the inside in the appropriate place and do the repair. You may find they have seized up so tight you have to replace the bolts (use a grinder to remove the head of...

With out a lot of testing between two equal boats in the same conditions it is hard to say but my guess would be in light air try to keep it even and in heavy air you want more weight forward when going upwind and more weight rearward going downwind. With an outboard hanging off the back you are pro...

Sailing returns to the south (for me anyways)
Finally the temps have dropped into the low 80's and the wind has returned. Beautiful day for sailing yesterday with 15 knots of wind that was pretty steady and an overcast sky to keep the temps down. A perfect day except for the very end when I cranked up the motor and found the main halyard which ...

By a round or square watertight inspection port and install near transom to do the repair work and then use the space for storage. They make small storage bags to go with some of the round inspection ports that will keep stored items from sliding around. I added 2 on my sunfish to do repairs and for...

This is probably going to require removing the keel and brackets in order to recaulk the bolts that mount the brackets.

Mine were in really poor condition and I had to completely replace them.
