Probably not a good idea to upload a pic of the HIN to the web, no telling where it might wind up being used ! I had a friend who found out his boat reg numbers had been appropriated, and the boat was involved in an accident ! They came looking for him by mistake.. I'll get you the location in relat...

That may be the Chrysler Model/Serial number info plaque; I think the HIN should be in the same area, but look more like its engraved/stamped in to the transom. I'll have to check EE when I get home to be sure.

Does the number you are looking at start with "CBC" ? If not then that's not the HIN since CBC is the MIC for a Chrysler

(or actually "was" since now CBC seems to be assigned to Cherokee Boat Company)

There's a wrap up article here;

Re: C26 spreader post specs. snapped off a spreader today.

It appears that the spreaders are pinned to a post that goes through the mast. Took a pic of EE's spreader socket, looks like that single bolt is what holds both spreaders to the mast ? Clickable thumbnail : http://i591.photobucket.com/albums/ss355/svemergencyexit/th_spreader_zpsjsnstpwe.jpg

EE, That would have been the the obvious solution, I instead created a makeshift spreader with a notched 2" X 4" and wedged it between the mast and the center shroud which restored the lost tension. Thinking I'll just pull the boat and use the mast crane to inspect and repair with the mas...

Re: C26 spreader post specs. snapped off a spreader today.

Thinking a tall ladder would not be stable after loosening the shrouds. If the spreader broke and the center shroud came loose, you might want to pull a cleated halyard off to that side and tie it off to something like a cleat or the toe rail anyway...I've used a tall ladder to retrieve a halyard t...

Assuming the C26 and C22 are similar, under the actual plate is a piece of wood for the plate the screw into, and some glass too..seems this area on the boats are always cracked on the surface but if the cracks allowed water to get in there, the wood could be compromised A thread with links to pics ...

Dauphin Island Regatta Disaster

For those who may not have heard about it, during the annual DI run on Mobile Bay a spring storm hit hard. Mostly happened when the faster boats were returning back up the bay, or slower boats were near the finish. Near hurricane force winds were recorded, boats and lives were lost. There's a lot of...

Gin Pole System

Getting ready to step the mast on the brand x boat so sharing some pics. Instead of using line to rig the baby stays, etc I went with ratchet straps, and with chain and carabiner clips for the lower attach points. Much easier to tighten on the fly if needed. http://www.svemergencyexit.net/aislingirl...

I looked around and although I thought I'd once seen a set of year/model/serial numbers for at least the powerboats, I couldn't find it again.

Has to be older than 72/73 since there's no HIN, and Lone Star made them as early as 1963..

Welcome Aboard ! 25" shaft is what you'll need for the factory motor mount; a 20" shaft will put the prop just under water in calm conditions, but will pop out most of the time. Original OB was usually a 12.9hp 2 stroke (Model was Sailor 280). Seems like most folks are using a 9-10 HP four...

Welcome aboard ! I've never seen a factory diagram, but the C26 didn't appear to come with much more than a battery feeding a fuse box, the nav lights, 4 cabin lights (stern berth, cabin, head, and vberth). The cabin lights had their own switch so they didn't go thru a power panel, The nav lights on...

Hey, big project sounds cool ! On my 79 swing keel the banquette storage is sealed off at the sole, so might be a fixed keel thing ? The hull under the banquette, the front of the banquettes, and the sole meet at the same points.

I've used a thin piece of PVC-ish molding from either Lowes Or Home Depot before - on the Coronado C15. Guessing it was about 1/8" thick and 1/2" wide.

That's the spirit - get her on the water, and you'll have to much fun to care about the exact batten ! 8)
