C22 Portlight/Frame Questions

Posting for someone unable to do so -

Has anyone ever found an aftermarket replacement set for these that fits in the same holes ? Or has anyone done a mod to their's to move to a similar set ?

Thanks !

Been there, done that !! Twice myself ! The second time, I rented an extension ladder from the local place, placed the feet against the rear of the forehatch, stood it up against the mast, and climbed close enough to snag it with a boat hook. The first time I used sections of PVC pipe with a hook ta...

Hey, Jeff, on that shower area, I have roughed in a second bulkhead even with the main salon bulkhead, and started building that area out. Going to tie the starboard chain plate into it so it matches the structure on the port side. Have a couple pics on the website - also found a pretty good paint m...

Welcome aboard ! Tell us some details about your C22 ! NoRush is right, a car battery is designed to start your car (minimal discharge), then charge back up to its normal state. When they get a longer drain, they may not recharge as well, or if you drain it far enough, at all. The deep cycle battery...

Yes, with some adjustments - the C26 pin is captured between two halves of a shoe right at the front of the keel area on the boat, and on the underside of the hull. Some good pics of the "Shoe" (or at least a replacement for it) is on the chryslersailing.lizards.net site, under the "H...

Seems like the original line size from the manual is 3/8". Are your halyards the wire/line combined type or no wire ? If all line ( no wire), you have to take the size of the masthead sheave pulleys into account when going up in line diameter.. As far as price, I'd just google around and see wh...

A few pics

If anyone is still feeling the landbound fever and needs a fix, I posted a few pics of our spring regatta on EE's home page. Flying Scots, Lasers, Sunfish, and a Portsmouth assortment.

On the rudder part - I am really tempted to add a piece of shock cord to the rudder of the C26 to provide some "down" tension and balance the tendency to float to the up position. But that doesn't seem like it would last in the water. If we decide to dry berth it at the club we joined, I w...

That great news. I can sure relate to adopting (or being adopted by) an old boat that sat alone for years ! Keep us posted !

Careful with those wasps, if they are related to the red ones we have in the south, they are painful !

In the article they just used the wax to be a pliable voidless go between for the inner hull and the transducer face. Question - how clean is the bottom of the boat ? I bet if it has growth on it, the "perfect" echo return needed from the transducer would be hindered. Also where you got th...

Hey, Try this, I found it in my marked web pages - Get a wax toilet bowl ring, pull the wax away from the center plastic piece, and mush it into a ball, make sure it is solid. I recently rebedded my thru hulls for both depth transducer and water intake (under port banquette), as well as repaired a 3/8 hole between the winch and the port banquette caused by a drill ( no i don't want to explain further !) I didn't find any coring in those areas, just about 3/8" of soli...

Betsy, you are apparently correct that the pin is not viewable without taking the brackets apart. Betsy, If you haven't seen it yet, you can find a tech spec page with a blowup diagram (but no mounting template) at: http://www.fultonperformance.com/instsht/F1851.pdf Note on the specs they rate it at 1550 pounds on the 1st layer of line, only rated at 700 pounds when full of line, so I guess use ...

Good article to keep on hand.

The other post was saying the C26 has an outer and inner hull. A double hull. Not sure that is correct. Mine is a single hull.

The resin in the rear keel pocket is sloppy work on mine, too. I am not fixing it.
