I forgot about Applefest. I spent Sunday doing my other expensive hobby. The wife and I flew up to Duluth and landed at sky harbor, walked up and down the beach for a while. Then we flew up the north shore and took in the colors and sites. If I had remembered Applefest we would have flown over to Ma...

What about the thumb nail photo's? Is clicking to webshots slow? I was thinking about changing photo host. I personally don't like webshots or photobucket for that reason. Browsing seems slow and at times the pop ups get out of control. I like Picasa the most for browsing, flicker isn't too bad.. Dan

It looks like Oct. 16th will work for me. I haven't had the 22 out this year. (It actually hasn't been in the water since 2008 ) But my wife and I have been working our tails off the last few weeks to get it seaworthy again. If all goes well we will be sailing Pepin this Friday through Sunday. We pl...

That looks like a 1980 model. The give away is the black toe rail and mast, and the shape of the side windows.

Free, is an excellent price! Good find.

I'm planning on making a dedicated Gin pole too. My dad and I always sailed the 22 together, we just walked mast without a gin pole. In our opinion it was much easier then all the setup with the gin pole. But now, I'm sailing alone or with my bride. Muscling it up is just not an option anymore. So I...

I have noticed this too. I think the windows are not symmetrical and they saved money by making one frame rather than two (right and left).

I'm using a Fleet Farm Bright-Start Marine/RV to run lights, radio, cd player, and electric start for the motor. It is one of their deep cycles that they sell and I think it is around 90AH. It has been in the boat now for at least 5 years and is holding up well.

When we did our toe rails, we soaked the rubber bumper strips in mineral oil for a few days. That seemed to rejuvenate them a little. They went back in easily with some taping with a rubber mallet. The first side ended up a few inches short. We had to pull it out and reinstall it again, this time pu...

I'll try to make it where ever it is. Rainy Lake would be a blast, but for me it would be a 7+hr tow up there. I think the Apostles are hands down the best cruising grounds around here. But the fall can bring some big waters up there, it might be better suited for a summer gathering of 2011. So, I g...

As you all can see, the font is wrong. Does anyone have a lead on a font that is closer to the original? If I can't find a font, I'll trace it sometime next week.

Vic,

I have always wanted to build a wood sailboat. But have yet to find the time. I have always liked these:

Particularly the Weekender and the Vacationer. They have great lines for being a plywood boat.

I didn't get a chance to get at it yet. But I think I'll try soap and water first. If that doesn't work well I'll give Oxyclean a try and be sure to keep rinsing it off the sails.

Thanks,
