Re: What bodies of water do you sail?

Welcome aboard, I think you got the better deal. Nothing sails better than a Chrysler 26.

Re: New to me C22 Concern with Rudder Assembly

New bushings are available and not that expensive, plus they are better than original. I believe you get them from a rudder manufacturer. The two white mushroom shaped thingies.

I wrap the lower part in fiberglass and overdrill the holes and fill them with epoxy. It is the last tiller I will need.

Re: Cockpit floor construction on C26?

I think it is solid fiberglass, but I think your leaks are coming from the screw holes on the upper part holding down the teak boards I just took mine off and left them off and filled the holes. Check the scuppers in the rear.

Just take them off you will never miss them. There is not enough room for them to be viable. I have no stanchions or pulpits fore or aft. Best thing I did.

Yes I noticed yours sat back a little from where mine sits but not much. I have a lot of tongue weight. Just move the boat ahead 6" to 12".

You are going to be glad you settled on the Chrysler 26, not a fancy name brand but one of the best boats in her class. I totally redid mine. Gutted her out and finished her the way I wanted.

Re: My revamped solar platform

6 50 watt panels, one panel and one controller for each battery. This way they stay in balance. I am working on a small ICE driven alternator @ 60v, 50 to 100 amps to do the bulk charge if needed. I have a 60v motor to drive the boat if needed. This bank also becomes my house bank. I wanted to be ab...

Re: C26 - what is the deck cored with?

You will find that you will like the 3/4 keel with the swing keel. You can sail it with the keel up most of the time which gets you more speed. This boat is super stable. A few have sailed to the Bahamas.

Re: C26 - what is the deck cored with?

I'm pretty sure it is plywood. I took off my stanchions and had to route some of it out. The hull to deck is not very good but not any worse than most production boats. It has screws hull to deck then the railing and that also is screwed hull to deck. What I did was went inside and used some plywood...

Top side painted.jpg I just took some pictures of mine. It is just an ezeloader trailer. So any boat trailer should work you just have to get the rollers. If you know of a boat trailer and want to convert it let me know and I will send you some picks. Most of the time you can find the rollers on Eb...

I'll be in Sacramento May 25th for a week. I'd come up but my dad is getting really old an I have to spend some time with him. It would be nice to go for a sail though. I wanted to get up to Washington this year or next.

My revamped solar platform

I redid my solar platform, moved it back farther behind the stays. I also put an angle on it so it looked smaller. I can tip them up if needed. I will have to wait a few more weeks to fiberglass it all together. Also there is a pic of my swim or boarding platform. I had filled in the motor well when...

Re: Help! should I buy this boat?

Yes, I drilled a hole using a hole saw about 2" then used a allen wrench on the drill to dig out farther under the fiberglass. Once you get as much as you can use a hair dryer and dry it out good. Mix up some epoxy and add sawdust to it. stop by a cabinet shop and ask for a garbage bag full. fi...

C26 chainplates

Hello all and hello Spring. I am thinking of redoing my chainplates. I do not use pulpits or lifelines, no stanchions. So I was wondering if I am able to just mount much better chainplates right to the outside of the hull. I do not think that this should interfere with the jib, but all I have used s...

Re: Help! should I buy this boat?

Soft spots are not a big deal. I took my stanchions off completely. There is just not enough room to have them and I do not miss them. If you just take a hole saw and cut only the top layer of fiberglass say a 2" hole right over the stanchion you can dig out the rotten wood. Then fill it with e...

Re: Any idea How to track the history of a 1976 c22 in tx

You should not need a title. In ND we do nto have titles for boats. So I have the old title I got when I purchased it from IL. But did not get a new one when I registered it in ND. All you have to do is register it in TX and say you purchased it from a state that does not use titles. If TX uses titl...
