That's a brilliant solution! Unfortunately I have separate jib sheets, so it won't work for me until I replace the sheets.

Thanks Scott. Essentially, that's what I was planning. Curb appeal is everything. My thought on the motor: It's worth a large percentage of the total. Some folks may not want to pay the premium for a newish motor on an old boat. Maybe I'll make it an option, pricing with and without motor. I'm still...

Selling?

I find myself looking at larger boats and wondering what Copacetic would sell for. I wonder if I would be better off selling her without a motor and selling my 2010 Suzuki separate. Any opinions? I know it's not a great market to sell boat right now, but then again, that's what has me browsing the b...

The mast is pretty easy. It works similar to Captain Scott's C-22 video. I use chains for bridles, and ratchet straps instead of lines. I forgot who suggested the ratchet straps, but they're easier to setup and the mast stays nice and secure without any side to side movement. One thing, your mainshe...

The rule of thumb is 10-15% of trailer weight on the tongue. I believe a C22 and trailer is around 5000 pounds, so that would put tongue weight in the 500-750 range.

That's very close in concept to what I built for Copacetic, but yours is much nicer. I added a bottom board attached with carriage bolts and wing nuts to lock it to the bow pulpit, and attached a strap to fasten the mast to the carrier. It works really well. I have a similar setup for the stern, but...

We have used a Thermacell with good results in the past, but Sunday it wasn't doing it. I was just doing some googling and some folks swear that rubbing gin on their skin keeps them from biting. Of course the smell might be hard to explain to the Coasties or Cops on the drive home.

Great Lakes Black Flies

We went out on Lake Michigan Sunday, and didn't find much wind. What we found were millions of black flies a couple miles off shore.

Does anyone here have an effective fly repellent? You can see a picture of my sail cover here http://svcopacetic.webs.com/ and the entire boat was like that.

I bought a Suzuki DF9.9THX from these guys: http://www.cumberlandwatersports.com/Suzuki-9.9-hp-DF9.9THX.html I got the remote model, but I don't think Suzuki will let them sell the remotes online anymore. Plenty of power, 25" long shaft to keep the prop in the water, power tilt, electric start....
