traveler upgrade in progress

I had originally thought I would try to upgrade the OEM traveler car...I have abandoned that idea. I found a very good deal on the Harken website in the Clearance items. I purchased a 27mm Non-CB traveler car with forged shackle for $52 instead of the $165 price tag. I sent an inquiry email to Harke...

If you want to remove a core of the foam thru one of the holes under the metal caps, you can use 1/2 inch thinwall electrical conduit also known as EMT...electrical metallic tubing. Cut it long enough to reach the bottom of the foam with some left above to grip with a channel lock pliers. Take a sma...

My boat had a little water saturated in the starboard foam flotation...approximately 5 or 6 inches near the bottom. I knew this because I removed the metal hole closers all along the starboard side and used a 1/2 inch electrical conduit to remove core samples at various points. I then inserted a woo...

The pin only goes in about 1 1/2 inch into the mast base and only needs to go into the boom far enough so it doesn't pop out accidentally while setting up...6 inches would be plenty I think.

You definitely have some work ahead of you. Good thing you have some knowledge on glassing. You can also add some type of support system inside the cabin, beneath the companionway step area.
