Gus, I have used the same method. Works OK with a sand bottom but I don't think I would like the sound on rocks :? .

I picked up a uniden at the Minneapolis boat show last week for $80 with a through the hull transducer from Marinegeneral.com. they still may have some.

The fuel locker can get grungy with oil. I used foaming engine cleaner and a little elbow grease and it was nice and clean and white when I hosed it out.

I still have my Sunfish also, nothing more fun on a warm windy day than hiking out, and making the center board sing. Sailboarders may disagree but I could never master that wind sport

Minneapolis Boat Show opens this Tuesday, Going Saturday.
Not a lot of sailing stuff, but still fun to look at all the boating stuff.
Sure does help us get through the days of hard water (ice).

Yes, I sail the St Croix, dry dock at the Beach House Marina in Bayport MN. Can't afford the price for a hole in a dock at most marinas on the St Croix.
Busy place on a summer weekend but weekday and off season weekends are more enjoyable.

Nice upgrade, should be very strong.
PO of Happy Place, just replaced the bulkheads with teak faced plywood. Really helped dress up the inside.

I always thought it would be fun to send some workstations base jumping.
Just take them someplace (very) high and throw them off, and let them crash to the ground.
More satification than drowning them.

My C22 has a pop-top, and I think once I start overnighting it will get lots of use. It is nice to rise at anchor for the extra room inside, additional light and air, and hand hold while walking around the deck. One of the spring projects I have is to design and build/sew a enclosure that should mak...

"Sailboat Snob", ya maybe a little, but that comes with brand loyalty. Which you will find in most any boat owner. All boats have there points, positve and negitave, It's a owners personal preference what choice they make, how and why. I've always enjoyed my time on the water, weather it b...

Great story Scott!
I have found the best sailing partners are the ones are "tested and true", and hopefully you have opportunities in less critical conditions to evaluate a crew.
After all you may need to entrust your life in these folks.

"Red sky at night" is generaly correct.

If your sailing with extra gear, make sure everything is secured and mounted as low as possible. If you dump over at least you won't loosing or get tangled up in your gear as you are righting yourself. I would suggest going out with your swin suit and a pfd and dumping it on purpose so you can exper...

Bryan This board is a great resource for the things to looks out for and the how to fixit. Another thing to consider is history of the boat, If your boat has spent it life in the upper midwest and sailed in fresh water and spent the average of 5 to 6 months "trailer sailing" in the snow. Y...

The stock C-22 galley I beleave is on sliders or if it has wheels there froze up.
I'll look if I have any pictures, I know I don't any of the bottom.
It would be nice if the stock galley had more storage room, the one drawer is realy just room for the paper plates and sporks.

In Happy Place the life line latches are on the bow so they can be moved to the toe rail to allow for sail movement down low.
I like the adjustable height set-up Capt Scott's got going.

I have towed my C22 with the outboard on the bracket, but used a old piece of dock line to tie it up to the stansion mounts to help keep it from bouncing around and unload the weight from the bracket and stern.

I'm going to go with, 1) True North 2) Compass North are shown on the compass rose on your chart?

I believe :? Compass Deviation, are caused by magnetic influences aboard the boat and Magnetic Variation, take place over very large area.

Also being a conversion van it has the nice stuff inside (tv/...

EE; Thanks for the pointers, I already did the carb and fuel pump last summer after I bought the boat to get the motor running, I replaced all the hoses under there also while I was at it.
The hardest part of that job was getting through all the electrical to get at the carb and pump.

A sailboat under sail should always have right of way over bubba and his buddies, however chances are bubba has never read the right of way rules in his boat registration book. In my Sunfish days I would aim right at bubba because he always knew how to throttle up to avoid getting hit
