Congrats.

Sailing alone is very relaxing but I have found the view is much better when my wife is along.

Outboard motor bracket question

I have what looks like the original motor bracket on my boat. It is very sloppy and wiggles around when motoring. The springs don't give any help in lifting the motor so I end up just dragging it when under sail. The motor I have is a Chrysler 10 H.P. it runs great and I don't plan on replacing it f...

Good one. You had me going but I kept thinking Capt Scott would check things out better before that first sail.

FranS- I hope it never happens to me but it is good to know they do float full of water.

I just hope I can make my hatch boards look as nice as Scott's. When I was looking for my boat last year I saw a 1976 C22 with the tall rig option. The owner told me the tall rig was the same mast that was used on the C26 but put on a C22. Is that true? Just curious for more useless knowledge, does ...

Interior wood work

I came across this listing and thought it was interesting. It has an inboard engine but what really caught my eye was the interior. Check out the woodwork. It is fun to dream about what can be done with enough time and money. http://www.sailboatbrokers.com/ywdetails.php?boat_info=/core/listing/pl_bo...

I was actually in a construction zone when it happened. When I got out semis had blocked the two lanes and the one next to the median wall waved at me and rolled over the tire and rim then they took off. Fortunatly no one was hit by the tire and rim. It looked like the hub cracked and broke. I had c...

Trailering the good and bad

http://www.flickr.com/photos/36306823@N04/3350854721/ This was the start of a great vacation. I trailered Mel-O 1,600 miles from Michigan to Sunshine Key in the beautiful Florida Keys. Before the trip I replaced all bearings and races and put on new tires. Towed it behind my motorhome with no probl...

Still waiting for the snow to melt and the ice to break on Lake Michigan. The ice is still out about a 1/4 mile out from the shore. Spring seems like it will never come this year in Michigan.

Enjoy your sailing!!

Keysskipper, I have made at least one trip to Key West almost every time I have been in the Keys. My first trip as a kid we camped at Venture Out but I cann't remember what key it is on. Then my parents bought a site at Outdoor Resorts which is where my grandparents ended up living. I have even been...

Keysskipper, What Key are you on? My first trip to the Keys was in the early 70's when I was 6 or 7. My grandparents retired to Long Key in 1975. I spent Christmas and spring breaks there for many years. I even drove over the old narrow bridges. My dad trailered his C22 there until he sold it then h...

Scott,

Here may be another option. This ad states the boat comes with 3 mains and 3 jibs. He may be willing to let a few go to increase his bottom line.

Traveling with your boat

I bought my boat with the idea of trailering it to new areas to sail. Do any of you travel away from your homeport trailering your boat and if so would you share some of the places you have been.

Scott,

I came across this listing on craigslist-

http://grandrapids.craigslist.org/boa/1029823694.html

The boat is near Grand Rapids Michigan I don't know if he has the sails from the boat but it may be worth an e-mail to find out.

The first time I remember was at a beach party on Lake Michigan I was 13 years old and someone had a 14' Hobie cat. I asked about it and was given a five minute lesson and sent out solo. It was a sail or swim situation. Lucky for me it wasn't too windy that day. I sailed for about 20 minutes and was...

With three boys all active in sports I don't have time for many hobbies. Before kids it was cars. I had a 1970 Corvette that was sold for the down payment on my first house. Now I have a 1970 Cutlass Supreme convertible. My wife and I have taken a few trips to BVI and bareboat chartered thru the Moo...

Hello new member here. I am a second generation Chrysler 22 owner. My dad bought a C-22 in 1978 and it was the boat I learned to sail on. He got bitten by the bigger boat is better bug. He went to a 26' S-2 then a 32' Bristol. With every boat he kept saying I should have kept the Chrysler it was the...
