How high?

Do any of you have your boat handy to tell me how high the winch eye on the front of your boat is above the frame of your trailer. Right now my winch is only about 18" above the frame on my trailer, but the pillar it is bolted to is open on top so I can add height to it fairly easy.

Well, it cooled off this evening and so rather than watch American Idol I went out and played with my trailer. (My wife thinks I need to get my priorities straight. I think they already are.) I got some nice sketches from trev and printed them out on one sheet to compare to my trailer. I think my ax...

I'm assuming that people would rather have a reply posted here than a new thread started for an update. Drove out to Columbus OH yesterday to pick up the trailer. When I got there the seller told me the trailer jack "fell off" on the drive over there from IL? Bearings were greased but had ...

On the original Chrysler trailer measured from the back of the keel to the center of the axle is 32" Mike , forgive me. I don't understand. Is that from the back of the keel backward to the axle, or is it from the back of the keel forward to the axle. In the first case that means the entire ke...

... a-a-and here I am doing things backwards again! You're getting boats in the water and starting to sail. Me, I'm hauling my boat out of the water. What's wrong with this picture? Too bad I don't have enough time to sail her from St Pete up to the Chesapeake somewhere. Seriously, have fun with you...

I was under the impression that the center of gravity of the boat should be slightly forward of the balance point (in this case the wheels) because to trailer properly you want about 10% of the weight as a tongue weight.

Like the idea of a "two strap extension".

P.S. I have a mid 80's Honda 7.5 hp 4 stroke that I just put a new water pump impeller in that runs great. I bought a new motor so this one is looking for a good home. 250.00 if you are interested. SOLD!! Thank you very much. I generally get off somewhere like the 2nd exit into FL and take 200/A1A ...

Since the majorty of the weight on the C22 is the keel centered under the boat. If you mount your boat to far forward your tongue weight will be out of hand for the rating of the trailer and your trailer hitch. My plan for this trip is to try to put the center of the keel just forward of the...

Great guys, thanks.

So it's 6'1" from the transom to the keel and the keel is 5'8" long. I'm assuming that's 6'1" along the bottom of the boat, not measured along the keel line to a point plumb under the transom.

According to the seller, the trailer is rated for 4000 pounds.

FranS, yes, I've seen it and downloaded the both the LS-16 and C-22 manuals. But they don't have the measurements that I am looking for.

How far is it from the base of the transom to the back of the keel?

How long is the keel?

My $400 trailer

Well, I had to have a trailer to haul Freehold [/i] home from FL and from what I was seeing we are talking about spending more for the trailer than I did for the boat. Then I found this 1992 trailer with a "Buy It Now" price of only $400. After comparing it to Banshi's photos I decided thi...

Sticker shock!

Went shopping for a motor this morning. Based upon readings here (may not know crap about boats but I know how to use the SEARCH button!) I knew I was looking for an 8 or 9 hp motor with a long shaft. HOLY CRAP!! The motor is going to cost me more than the boat did!! That is just wrong!

Tim , mine is a swing keel and looking at the trailer I don't know that I'll really have to do all that modification. It's a 20' trailer that was designed to hold a big old powerboat with a V-8 engine. Maybe it's just wishful thinking, but it looks to me like a swing keel boat might just lie right ...

Please bear in mind that my sailing experience boils down to a one week school (A-B-Sea Sailing in Port Richey, FL) and a lifetime of dreaming. Now, granted, I'm brand new to this boating game but isn't the BOAT end of the trailer supposed to go in the water first instead of the truck end?

I am going to print this whole thread off so I can avoid these mistakes once I get my trailer and boat ready to go.
