How high?
Do any of you have your boat handy to tell me how high the winch eye on the front of your boat is above the frame of your trailer. Right now my winch is only about 18" above the frame on my trailer, but the pillar it is bolted to is open on top so I can add height to it fairly easy.

Well, it cooled off this evening and so rather than watch American Idol I went out and played with my trailer. (My wife thinks I need to get my priorities straight. I think they already are.) I got some nice sketches from trev and printed them out on one sheet to compare to my trailer. I think my ax...

... a-a-and here I am doing things backwards again! You're getting boats in the water and starting to sail. Me, I'm hauling my boat out of the water. What's wrong with this picture? Too bad I don't have enough time to sail her from St Pete up to the Chesapeake somewhere. Seriously, have fun with you...

P.S. I have a mid 80's Honda 7.5 hp 4 stroke that I just put a new water pump impeller in that runs great. I bought a new motor so this one is looking for a good home. 250.00 if you are interested. SOLD!! Thank you very much. I generally get off somewhere like the 2nd exit into FL and take 200/A1A ...

Since the majorty of the weight on the C22 is the keel centered under the boat. If you mount your boat to far forward your tongue weight will be out of hand for the rating of the trailer and your trailer hitch. My plan for this trip is to try to put the center of the keel just forward of the...

My $400 trailer
Well, I had to have a trailer to haul Freehold [/i] home from FL and from what I was seeing we are talking about spending more for the trailer than I did for the boat. Then I found this 1992 trailer with a "Buy It Now" price of only $400. After comparing it to Banshi's photos I decided thi...

There is no wisdom in more than one boat. ... Contrary to the first statement, I would love for the sailing ladies to chime in here! I bet you get a better responce from them than from any guy! I mean, hey, we're guys aren't we? LOL! -Scott Scott , what a neat story! And a happy ending no less. Dee...

Disclaimer: Ladies, you don't want to read this. (tongue in cheek, dry sense of humour. actually ladies, your opinions would be welcomed.) I have a confession to make. I was always one of those guys who would sit there reading his WoodenBoat or some other rag and wonder what in the world you need mo...

Sticker shock!
Went shopping for a motor this morning. Based upon readings here (may not know crap about boats but I know how to use the SEARCH button!) I knew I was looking for an 8 or 9 hp motor with a long shaft. HOLY CRAP!! The motor is going to cost me more than the boat did!! That is just wrong!

Tim , mine is a swing keel and looking at the trailer I don't know that I'll really have to do all that modification. It's a 20' trailer that was designed to hold a big old powerboat with a V-8 engine. Maybe it's just wishful thinking, but it looks to me like a swing keel boat might just lie right ...

OK, first of all, let me thank all of you for the rapid and insightful responses. I'm impressed. Now, there is some way to include multiple quotes from a variety of posts and respond to them all in one post. I just don't know how to do it on this forum. So I do it the old fashioned way, I take notes...

URGENT C-22 help needed!!
What was I thinking!!? I just won an auction on eBay for a 1978 C-22 currently in a slip in St Petersburg, FL. I know, I know ... I haven't even gotten the LS-16 in the water yet. But for only $1025 I just couldn't pass her up. So here's what I need. I need photos of your trailers for your C-22's. I...

alanhod , sounds to me like that man needs to get his priorities in order. Try reminding him that our career has the 2nd highest levels of alcoholism and divorce AND suicide in the USA. He really needs to take some time to destress. (Of course, I was a Lieutenant who worked at institutions four hou...

Please bear in mind that my sailing experience boils down to a one week school (A-B-Sea Sailing in Port Richey, FL) and a lifetime of dreaming. Let's start with how much room should be between the gooseneck and that little slot you slip the plastic slides into on the mast? My first thought was that ...

Re: Ahoy From LS-16 #249 in Dallas Texas!
look on the upper starboard corner of the transon for an ID plate. The last digits are the year of build. -Mike mike , i just checked and there is a little plate on the upper right corner of the transom. The black paint on it has almost completely worn off, except for the part that says Chrysler. I...

I wanted to start of with a headline of "Ahoy thar", but that seemed wrong somehow since my boat hasn't even seen the water since my wife bought it 6 years ago. I am a 51 yr old retired law enforcement officer who has ALWAYS had an unrealized dream of sailing to distant and unfamil...
