Most gavanized trailers still have painted axles and other parts. Washing down the trailer after use in salt water is the best thing you can do along with keeping up the paint. I have used ramps that had fresh water availble for wash downs. The nearest car wash will work. My father inlaw used to alw...

If you can't see blisters through the bottom paint I doubt that you have any problems. For the blistered bottoms I have done I use really course paper, 36 or even 24 grit on a DA sander. For really thick bottom paint 60 grit is probably OK. If you want to explore a few spots try the 80 grit. I have ...

I have used lengths of shoe molding taped together with a really big fish hook taped to the end. if you can fasten your spinnaker halyard about a foot below the hook you can use one hand to pull it up and one to guide the stick. This worked well for me more than once.

The small battery box is a nice touch. Where did you find it? I use a similar size wheel chair battery, but I have been using a full size box with shims inside to hold the battery still. I have one of those fluoresent lights they work great.

A fresh coat of bottom paint might be a good idea. Since you are in fresh water you should not need to go crazy with high priced paint. West marine works OK for fresh water around here and is much lower in price. You are right you will sail more with the boat in the water.

launching without an extension

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl ... GQZUDFXtrs#!

I ran across this video. A good example of launching without a rigid extension. I find a stout rope or towing strap to be much quicker and easier on the back than a length of 3x3 steel.

Please let us know how the pump works out. This looks like the best type of pump for pumping the C 26 bilge dry. My factory pump is mounted way above the bottom of the bilge.

I scrapped an ODay 25 this fall. I briefly considered using the stern mounted tiller on the C 26 but if I remember correctly the slope of the C26 transom compared to vertical ODay transom seemed like it would be a problem, Although I really didn't give it much though. The ODay rudder is gone now.

Chrysler 26 motor mount

I got a chance this weekend to mount a 1987 Yamaha 9.9 4 stroke on the Chrysler motor mount. I noticed When I tried to tilt the motor the top hit the top of the motor mount hole. This suprised me I thought the sides would be the problem. I have seen several rebuilds on this sight where the mount was...

Be sure to use 316L or 304L. On Line Metals is top dollar you will do better if you can find a local fabricator that works in stainless and has stock material.

On the shallowest ramp at our club we need the full 25ft. You either need to back the empty trailer fast enough or when the wheels hit the mud at the end of the ramp it will bog down. Sometimes we tie a line to the back of the trailer and let someone give it an exta pull to keep it going straight. W...

The topping lift is usaually slack while you are sailing, so it may not raise the boom while you are sailing.
