Basics

Like many here my C22 came pretty cheap. Therefore, maybe I can feel ok about spending for a good motor setup. 4 stroke min. 4.5 hp / more would be better long shaft mid 80's / the newer the better remote controls or fabricate-as done by some here If I watch Craig's list for a good motor for 500$ or...

Re: Outboard Basics

Now that I've been educated about the desirability of running a gas motor rather than an electric ( at least in my sailing area) how about some knowledge on the basics of outboards from the group. For a C22, sizes in HP, long shaft or not, controls to the cockpit, what would be a really good instal...

Re: Electric Motor ?

I'm considering an Electric Trolling motor as a means to get out the channel to sailing depth, and then back to the berth, of course. I don't have the funds for a newer outboard and I don't quite trust the 4.5hp. antique that I have now. My thought is about a 50 lb thrust with a marine battery and ...

Nice looking boat.

Good looking boat. I noticed in your pictures that you have a trolling motor as a kicker. How does it work for you? Strong enough? battery charge?
I'm going to try an electric motor on my C22, and I'd be interested in your experience.
Thanks BC

Electric Motor

Thanks for the replies. I'm going to try it. I believe with a good battery and a 50lbs thrust it should do what I want. On the Gulf - western side of Florida - you have to do 1 mile from shore to gain 1 foot of depth, ergo the distance problem. By using good judgement on when and when not to sail, t...

Mast Base Fix ?

In stepping the mast for the first time --1981 TMI C22 new to me -- the insert into the bottom of the mast that captures the "hook" was very loose and able to move around quite a bit. Looking at it after getting it positioned, the base had been screwed in 3 places with # 12 screws. It seem...

Hatch's

Thanks for the input

My sliding hatch cover is a solid fiberglass that is starting to de=laminate, and I lost the forward hatch will moving the boat home.
So I need to do something for the forward hatch. A little teak trim would be a nice touch. Just a little - not to much.

New Member with a question

Hello After a month of lurking I thought I'd come out and ask a few questions. I have an eighty-one C 22 as a "get it out of here" deal PO didn't want to pay anymore dockage. I was happy to oblige. A question: the hatches I see on some of the pictures appear to have some teak across the to...
