Love the concepts and workmanship - good job! When I make one I would like to add: 1) a means of securing it to the pulpit so even severe bumps can not dislodge it. 2) a hinged matching top portion to close over the mast and keep it captured. As it is I would still be lashing the mast to something t...

I think I understood, but if the keel is up inside the keel trunk, it is then hanging on the pin and on the pendent so the strain is not removed. In fact, now you have a situation that, due to uneven road surfaces, has vertical movement and inertia acting on these two points whenever transportation ...

I like your statement "Deputy was very helpful". I could have read, "Deputy and I talked with my hands over my head and against a wall." Hopefully this will resolve quickly. In my part of the country you still have 3 - 4 months to work it out before you can use the boat (1.5 - 2 ...

Seems to me that if you add glass & some structural component to surround the keel, you gain no advantage. Ultimately, whether exposed or encased, once the boat is on the trailer the keel will end up resting on the trailer. Having a surrounding structure doesn't change that, nor the resulting st...

Begin by telling us which boat you have. Someone will know what parts ought to be there, and may even have some sort of drawing or pictures from when we took ours apart.

Best to you,

Greetings Garth, Don't know the weight of your boat. My C-22 swing keel is on a roller trailer. The keel sits on a 1/4" steel plate bolted to the center of the trailer. Rather than the keel holding up the boat, the plate is slightly below the keel and so the keel sits on it to take most of the ...

Greetings! The gooseneck is found here - http://www.dwyermast.com/items.asp?cat1ID=40&cat1Name=Hardware&familyID=17&familyName=Goosenecks. From Dwyer, it is the 418. Just got one for Christmas for my boat. The pin is simply a piece of 5/8" steel about 9" long or longer. I cut t...

I know, the cabin is a bit smaller than what we are used to, but this came up on craig's list and looks like a hoot!

My boat came with the thru hull fitting laying inside. It is a very simple set-up. Remove the hose inside the coffin that connects the upper and lower fittings (should be stainless steel hose clamps on each end) and use a pair of large channel locks to unscrew the hex nut. It's probably sealed in wi...

I learned about riding in shorts when my '52 Harley Hummer came around a corner & I goosed it on gravel. The back end tried to pass the front end and a case of road rash was the result. I've owned around 6 bikes from 125cc - 1100 and loved each one. It seems to be part of the human condition (es...

The Chrysler owner's manual has a section on rigging your vessel. As for the shrouds, they say to have them tight enough initially to make the mast straight while sighting up the sail slot. Then go to a lake and fill the sail from the port side. If the starboard shrouds are too loose, tighten them, ...
