I haven't gotten my Starwind in the water yet, but I will say that I generally steer with the outboard on my Compac 16(which has a similar setup) when under power. Personally, I haven't noticed any difference steering in reverse with the motor offset, but I also typically have the rudder tilted up d...

I was actually afraid that this would happen to my Starwind during Hurricane Sandy. I was unable to move from my In-laws property, and was forced to leave it in front of their garage, unprotected from 3 sides. Thankfully the worst of the wind came from the North, damaging the garage roof, knocking d...

Starwind 22 flipped by a Tornado
I found this on Sailnet this morning, and was surprised to see it was Starwind 22 (cousin of the chrysler 22) when I looked at the pics!

I forgot to mention that for the second board, I had the original to measure for the bolt hole locations. So when I tightened the bunk boards to the support post brackets, I only tightened the center post completely tight, I left the front and rear supports slightly loose until I set the weight of t...

Replacing bunk boards with the boat on the trailer
Ideally I would normally go to a nearby boat launch(at an off peak time) and float the boat off, replace the damaged bunk with one I had ready to simply bolt right on as quickly as possible and pull the boat back onto the trailer ASAP. However, when I picked up the Starwind 22 recently, the trailer ...

Welcome Scott...nice boat and it looks like a poptop too...am I correct? You are correct! The pop top is what sold my wife, she's not a fan of tight spaces. It is heavy, and leaks right now though... I plan on replacing and/or adding gaskets to seal it up, then I want to make some sides and screens...

Thanks! I am actually just getting started on it. My main priority has been getting the Starwind dried out and sealed up. Windows and frames need redone, pop top leaks, not sure about the forward hatch over the V-berth... Then we will begin redoing the interior, cushions, shelves, and water damaged ...

My 1983 Starwind 22
Hello all, my name is Scott and I'm from Easton, Pa. I recently became the owner of my second free (well, kinda free) sailboat. My first is a 1980 Compac 16, that I rescued from under a tree for the previous 10 years, I took this: http://i1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee514/scotimier/8bdd6f91.jpg And ...

Plans for Keel Pin Brackets
Hello, I have been lurking on this site for a few weeks now, and I've read thru almost every thread on this site and others that I can find. I am in need of a set of plans for the keel pin and bracket assembly to take to my local fab shop to have them made. I've seen multiple references to people ma...
