Sailfrog, I had a bit of trouble understanding your description until I realized that your extension is partially outside the main frame member. Mine is completely enclosed. So while that's a great idea, it won't quite work for me. Currently I'm thinking of a simple stop on the extension for putting...

Splash! (and lessons learned)

We pulled Copacetic up to Madison, WI yesterday and put her in Lake Mendota for the first time. We launched at Marshal Park, which went well thanks to our trailer's tongue extension. Although we had very little wind we were sailing on a beautiful day and really enjoyed it. The boat worked as expecte...

Rudder Raising Clevis Pin (C26)

The clevis pin that the rudder raising line wraps around was badly bent. It seems to be a 1/4" x 1 3/4". I haven't been able to find one so far, although I straightened mine out enough to use for now. Does anyone have a supplier for these? Are they a weak link and should I consider fitting...

I was wondering how those Chrysler power boat guys would feel about us Chrysler sailors. That might be a fun get together if we could get a few sailboats there. I'm not sure if I'll be ready for a trip like that until next year though.

Raised the mast for the first time (C26)

With the trailer basically ready my attention has turned to the boat. I built mast carriers to get the mast off the pulpit and pushpit. I'm thinking of adding a roller to the stern carrier to make sliding the mast back and forth easier. I had a bit of a problem figuring out the main sheet arrangemen...

Interesting. Most of the marinas I've checked into have openings. Probably partially due to the bad economy.

Thanks for keeping us informed of the good and the bad. In a similar, but work related situation, I ordered a custom server rack that was to be delivered in 6 weeks. This is week 5 so I called to confirm a ship date and was informed there was an error and my rack had not been built. Like you, they h...

Hey EE,
What brand and model Bimini did you get? Wife is a redhead, so a bimini is required equipment. I've been eyeing Overton's.

Sorry for the hijack.

We moved her Saturday. The floor jack under the keel sunk into the plywood it was sitting on so it would roll. We ended up winching her forward with a strap around the fixed keel only for an inch or two, then release the jack and repeat. Thanks to everyone for your suggestions. http://i36.photobucke...

Thanks for all the replies. Based on what I've been thinking and reading here I'm going to try something like what Dennis suggested. Especially since he's done it on this particular boat and trailer :D Thanks Dennis. Chrysler20%26, that's NEGATIVE 80 pounds (estimated) on the tongue, not 80 pounds. ...

The tongue weight is currently somewhere around -80. It would take a lot of weight attached to the tongue to bring it anywhere near the 10% I'd like.

IH, That's a 5,000 pound boat, not 14,000 pounds. Still a lot. GS, What makes you say it looks like the bunks are not set properly? It seems to be missing two, but I don't know if they were ever there. Apart from that it seems OK. I do like the idea of supporting the weight on the fixed keel, so I'l...

Scott,
We had a quite a scare going down a steep hill on the way home. The trailer was steering and I was just making directional suggestions. That's why I want to fix the problem as near as possible to where it's sitting now (storage lot).

A strap around the keel sounds like a good idea. I like that better than pulling out my bow eye. I could even pad the strap until I feel all warm and fuzzy about it. I think a come-along attached to the trailer tongue would probably do it, and give me a bit more precise control than pulling with my ...

How to reposition on trailer (without water)

During the trip home my C26 shifted back on her trailer. This created negative tongue weight. I don't want to tow an hour to put her in the water in this state (although I probably already did to get her home). I'm assuming simply winching her forward would put too much stress on the bow eye area, b...

I have had a name in mind for some time, and finally obtained a boat that fits the name. Our "new" C26 will be named Copacetic. According to Merriam-Webster it means "very satisfactory", but I like the definition at World Wide Words better: "Fine, excellent, going just right...

New C26 Owner

It took a lot of research here and elsewhere to decide that a Chrysler 26 is the best boat for us. It then took more research to find the right one for sale.
