Gin Pole System

Post by EmergencyExit »

Getting ready to step the mast on the brand x boat so sharing some pics. Instead of using line to rig the baby stays, etc I went with ratchet straps, and with chain and carabiner clips for the lower attach points. Much easier to tighten on the fly if needed.

Since the CP23 doesn't have a provision for the boom to attach to the mast foot like a Chrysler I found this arrangement on line.

Tried it out the other weekend, and it worked great. I had marked the ends of the straps for which went where as well as the chains for port and starboard so no adjustments we needed. Planning on using some electrical tape so close the ends of the hooks at the chains, and a zip tie to keep the straps together at the pole and mast. That way its a one piece, ready to go..
