Rigging component?

Post by CapnJeff »

Hello all!!! I recently acquired my first sailboat, a 76 C22 and I found this piece stashed in a drawer down in the cabin. Does anyone know what this is?

At a glance it looks like a boom gooseneck. Does not looks correct for the C22 if it is indeed some ones idea of a goose neck!

Thanks the insight, Scott. The original gooseneck is attached to the boom. This piece was just randomly thrown in the cabin. I'm not sure if it belongs to a C22 or not.

I believe that is the vang attachment. It goes in the slot below the goose neck to attach one end of the vang.

Excellent idea!
Makes perfect sense too!

My vangs were set up with an eye attachment but that sure would work on the vang!

I figured out what it is. It's the mast slide for a boomkicker. The previous owner installed it to replace the topping lift apparently. I should have suspected that since the boom kicker was laying in the vee berth.
