replacement rudder control lines

Hi all. Chrysler 22 question
Anybody got some advice as to what is the best choice for line
when replacing the two rudder control lines? I pulled the boat out a few
months ago and replaced it with some fairly stout nylon stock but the up
control has already worn thru and broken. Anybody tried stainless wire?
